Abstract Background Qualitative longitudinal research (QLR) comprises qualitative studies, with repeated data collection, that focus on the temporality (e.g., time and change) of a phenomenon. The use of QLR is increasing in health research since many topics within health involve change (e.g., progressive illness, rehabilitation). Jeg håper at oppgaven kan bidra til å fjerne fordommer mot BDSM gjennom kunnskapsbasert forskning og være til hjelp for psykologer, terapeuter, leger, sexologiske rådgivere og andre i hjelpeapparatet slik at de kan møte klienter/pasienter som praktiserer BDSM på en god måte uten fordommer og stigma.
