En risikovurdering ved bruk av svalgang som rømningsvei : bruk av FDS til å undersøke brannsikkerheten ved fravikelser fra preaksepterte ytelser

2016

Masteroppgave bygg - Universitetet i Agder 2016 The purpose of this master thesis is to investigate the tenability limits on the egress path on an access balcony when not following all the given pre accepted solutions. The analysis construction deviates from some of the pre accepted solutions given for TEK10 to investigate if the fire safety level is satisfying. According to the standard NS 3901 Requirements for risk assessment of fire in construction works, a comparative qualitative analysis has been done by using FDS. The conditions that are analyzed is the time for critical temperature and heat radiation to occur where fire simulations in FDS has given the available safe egress time for …

Livsløpsvurdering og dimensjonering av stålog limtrebue i en nettverksbuebru

2016

Masteroppgave bygg - Universitetet i Agder 2016 This master thesis focuses on the design and life cycle assessment (LCA) of a network arch bridge. The arch is designed and compared by using two different materials, steel and gluelam. This study is carried out on the behalf of Statens vegvesen, Region øst, and serves as the graduate thesis for master degree in Civil Engineering at the University of Agder. The network arch bridge is part of E16 and is located at Oppstadåa. The bridge carries four lanes, which results in a 21 meters wide deck. The span of the bridge is 120 meters. Three different network arch bridges alternatives have been designed in this thesis. The original network arch bri…

Accessibility of eGovernment Web Sites: Towards a Collaborative Retrofitting Approach

2010

Published version of a chapter from the book: Computers Helping People with Special Needs. The original publication is available at www.springerlink.com: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-14097-6_75 Accessibility benchmarking is efficient to raise awareness and initiate competition. However, traditional benchmarking is of little avail when it comes to removing barriers from eGovernment web sites in practice. Regulations and legal enforcement may be helpful in a long-term perspective. For more rapid progress both vendors and web site maintainers are willing to take short-term action towards improvements, provided that clear advise is available. The approach of the eGovernment Monitoring pro…

Novel Iris Biometric Watermarking Based on Singular Value Decomposition and Discrete Cosine Transform

2014

Published version of an article in the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2014/926170 A novel iris biometric watermarking scheme is proposed focusing on iris recognition instead of the traditional watermark for increasing the security of the digital products. The preprocess of iris image is to be done firstly, which generates the iris biometric template from person's eye images. And then the templates are to be on discrete cosine transform; the value of the discrete cosine is encoded to BCH error control coding. The host image is divided into four areas equally correspondingly. The BCH codes are embedded in the sing…

Exact Closed-Form Expressions for the Distribution, the Level-Crossing Rate, and the Average Duration of Fades of the Capacity of OSTBC-MIMO Channels

2009

Article from the journal: IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology Official site: http://dx.doi.org/10.1109/TVT.2008.927038 This paper deals with some important statistical properties of the channel capacity of multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) systems with orthogonal space-time block code (OSTBC) transmission. We assume that all the subchannels are uncorrelated. For OSTBC-MIMO systems, exact closed-form expressions are derived for the probability density function (PDF), the cumulative distribution function (CDF), the level-crossing rate (LCR), and the average duration of fades (ADF) of the channel capacity. Furthermore, it will be shown that these exact closed-form expressions can be …

The Influence of Spatial Correlation and Severity of Fading on the Statistical Properties of the Capacity of OSTBC Nakagami-m MIMO Channels

2009

This paper deals with the analysis of statistical prop- erties of the capacity of spatially uncorrelated orthogonal space- time block coded (OSTBC) Nakagami-m multiple-input multiple- output (MIMO) channels. We have derived exact closed-form expressions for the probability density function (PDF), cumula- tive distribution function (CDF), level-crossing rate (LCR), and average duration of fades (ADF) of the channel capacity. We have also investigated the statistical properties of the approximated capacity of spatially correlated OSTBC Nakagami-m MIMO channels. The results are studied for different values of the fading parameter m, corresponding to different fading conditions. It is observed …

Preventing early age chloride migration into low-carbon concrete

2019

The use of substituting cementitious materials (SCMs) to produce low-carbon concrete is escalating. This contributes to reducing the anthropogenic emission of CO2, and to reduce harmful temperature gradients during cement hydration in massive structures. Mature low-carbon concretes are known to perform well on both strength and durability. However, the maturity process is slow compared to that of standard concrete. Structures made from low-carbon concrete are subject to penetration of agents like chloride at early age, accelerating degrading processes. Chloride penetration is a major problem especially to infrastructure, due to seawater proximity and the use of de-icing agents. Solutions fo…

Anomaly detection in dynamic systems using weak estimators

2011

Accepted version of an article from the journal: ACM transactions on internet technology. Published version available from the ACM: http://dx.doi.org/10.1145/1993083.1993086 Anomaly detection involves identifying observations that deviate from the normal behavior of a system. One of the ways to achieve this is by identifying the phenomena that characterize “normal” observations. Subsequently, based on the characteristics of data learned from the “normal” observations, new observations are classified as being either “normal” or not. Most state-of-the-art approaches, especially those which belong to the family of parameterized statistical schemes, work under the assumption that the underlying…

Ideal Chaotic Pattern Recognition is achievable: The Ideal-M-AdNN - its design and properties

2013

Published version of a chapter in the book: Transactions on Computational Collective Intelligence XI. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1007/978-3-642-41776-4_2 This paper deals with the relatively new field of designing a Chaotic Pattern Recognition (PR) system. The benchmark of such a system is the following: First of all, one must be able to train the system with a set of “training” patterns. Subsequently, as long as there is no testing pattern, the system must be chaotic. However, if the system is, thereafter, presented with an unknown testing pattern, the behavior must ideally be as follows. If the testing pattern is not one of the trained patterns, the system …
