Kontraktsform i veiprosjekter og forutsetninger for effektiv veibygging : En casestudie av prosjekteringsprosessen for ny E18 Tvedestrand - Arendal
2017
2018
Masteroppgave industriell økonomi og teknologiledelse IND590 - Universitetet i Agder 2018 Nye Veiers project E18 Rugtvedt-Dørdal is the first project in Norway to use the procurement method Best Value Procurement. The project is carried out as a Design-Build contract, which also is fairly new in the road construction industry. The purpose of this thesis is to reveal how Nye Veiers new project execution model has influenced the project execution phase, regarding cooperation, constructability and customer value. This will be discussed in the context of theories regarding transaction costs, the principal-agent problem, network in value chains and learning. The study is based on an abductive ap…
Digital collaboration in the wood-based construction industry: deployment of Building Information Modeling
2014
Doctoral dissertation, Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Agder, Kristiansand 2014 Building Information Modeling (BIM) is intended to promote efficiency in building design and serves as a design space where multiple actors engage in collaborative work. BIM is both a new technology and a new way of working, providing a common environment for all information defining a building, facility, or asset, together with its common parts and activities (Pittard, 2013). This thesis explores the deployment of BIM technology in the Norwegian wood-based building industry and contributes to understanding how BIM can be applied to improve collaborative work in this sector. The dissertation is interdi…
Comparative study of indirect tensile test and uniaxial compression test on asphalt mixtures: Dynamic modulus and stress-strain state
2023
Dynamic modulus is an essential parameter for the performance characterisation of asphalt materials for performance prediction and pavement design. The Indirect Tensile (IDT) test and the Uniaxial Compression (UC) test are both well-known experiments performed in the laboratory to characterise the dynamic modulus of asphalt mixtures over a range of temperatures and loading frequencies. A considerable amount of research has investigated the difference between two test modes, while few studies analysed the fundamental difference in stress–strain distributions for the two test setups. This work aims at comparing the effect of the two test methods on dynamic modulus of asphalt mixtures, as well…
Approaches and strategy development towards more sustainable ultra-high-performance concrete
2023
The main research objective of this thesis is to investigate how the use of UHPC can contribute to improving the sustainability of the concrete industry by investigating alternative approaches and develop a comprehensive strategy. Some cost aspects have been discussed to indicate whether the strategy is commercially viable. The research involved six studies: Paper I describes a background study to identify directions for a more sustainable concrete industry. Papers II–V report on how approaches to improve sustainability influence the mechanical properties of UHPC. These studies include both literature reviews and experimental activities. Paper VI concludes the research by developing a compr…
Development of Motion Control Systems for Hydraulically Actuated Cranes with Hanging Loads
2023
Automation has been used in industrial processes for several decades to increase efficiency and safety. Tasks that are either dull, dangerous, or dirty can often be performed by machines in a reliable manner. This may provide a reduced risk to human life, and will typically give a lower economic cost. Industrial robots are a prime example of this, and have seen extensive use in the automotive industry and manufacturing plants. While these machines have been employed in a wide variety of industries, heavy duty lifting and handling equipment such as hydraulic cranes have typically been manually operated. This provides an opportunity to investigate and develop control systems to push lifting e…
Towards Efficient Use of Cement in Ultra High Performance Concrete
2021
Abstract This paper presents an investigation on substituting the cement content with an inert material, in a typical locally produced UHPC mix. A structured literature review was performed to enrichen the discussion and to benchmark the results towards already reported investigations in the research society. Investigations on cement substitution in UHPC are frequently reported. However, usually the cement is substituted with other binding materials – often pozzolanic by-products from other industries. Reports from investigations on the use of inert materials for cement substitution in UHPC seem scarce. An experimental program that included a total of 210 test specimens was executed. This p…
Lowering environmental impact from UHPC, utilizing industrial by-products
2018
Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC) is a material having some properties superior to ordinary concrete, such as strength and durability. Production ofUHPC often includes large amount of cement, leading to high cost and environmental footprint. This study aimed at demonstrating the potential of reducing both cost and environmental impact from production of UHPC, by reducing cement content through substitution with inert materials. Locally available industrial by-products were utilized as ag-gregates, as another mean to reduce cost and environmental impact. It has been proven possible to substitute 40% of the cement with inert materials, without significantly reducing the compressive stren…
Prosessorientert planlegging : Tverrfaglig analyse av flyt og forutsetninger i byggeprosjekter
2018
Masteroppgave bygg BYG508 - Universitetet i Agder 2018 Introduction: The construction industry is undergoing constant changes and the complexity of today’s buildings is increasing. Simultaneously, there is a constant pressure to deliver projects faster and cheaper, without sacrificing quality. Lean construction is a philosophy that seeks to reduce waste, create flow and improve plan-reliability in construction projects. This master thesis is written in collaboration with Skanska, investigating the possibilities of location-based planning and flowoptimization in the interior works of the Bjørndalen KF5 residential project, using an interdisciplinary approach. Methodology: The study is based …
