High Speed Stereovision Setup for Position and Motion Estimation of Fertilizer Particles Leaving a Centrifugal Spreader

2014

EA SPE GEAPSI; International audience; A 3D imaging technique using a high speed binocular stereovision system was developed in combination with corresponding image processing algorithms for accurate determination of the parameters of particles leaving the spinning disks of centrifugal fertilizer spreaders. Validation of the stereo-matching algorithm using a virtual 3D stereovision simulator indicated an error of less than 2 pixels for 90% of the particles. The setup was validated using the cylindrical spread pattern of an experimental spreader. A 2D correlation coefficient of 90% and a Relative Error of 27% was found between the experimental results and the (simulated) spread pattern obtai…

Spectral classification & physical parameters of the IPHAS CBe stars in the BCD system.

2017

The INT Photometric Hα Survey (IPHAS) has detected tens of thousands of emission line objects in the Northern Galactic Plane. Spectroscopic follow-up has shown that the vast majority of them are Classical Be (CBe) stars, rapidly rotat- ing main sequence B type stars which develop an outflowing circumstellar disk by mechanisms not yet completely understood. In this work we present a study of the full catalogue of the CBe stars discovered by IPHAS. We have analyzed 805 low resolution spectra of 732 IPHAS CBe stars. With a semi-automatic proce- dure, which we evaluate at the first part of this work, we obtained the relevant physical parameters, including the effective temperature, surface grav…

PLANETS AROUND LOW-MASS STARS AND STELLAR ACTIVITY EFFECTS

In the last years the field of exoplanet research has focused its interest in M dwarfs. These stars have became the favourite targets in radial velocity surveys, specially when looking for small planets in the habitable zones of their parent stars. Not only for being the M dwarfs the most common objects in our Galaxy also because the Doppler signals due to small planets orbiting around them are larger and more easily detectable than those around FGK stars. However, stellar magnetic activity and rotation affect the measured radial velocities as surface inhomogeneities rotating with the stellar surface can cause periodic changes in the spectral line centroid. Disentangle these stellar activit…
