Characterization of adsorbed water in MIL-53(Al) by FTIR spectroscopy and ab-initio calculations
2015
Here, we report ab-initio calculations developed with a twofold purpose: understand how adsorbed water molecules alter the infrared spectrum of the metal-organic framework MIL-53(Al) and to investigate which are the associated physico-chemical processes. The analyzed structures are the two anhydrous narrow (np⊘) and large (lp⊘) pore forms and the hydrated narrow pore form (np-H2O) of the MIL-53(Al). For these structures, we determined their corresponding infrared spectra (FTIR) and we identified the vibrational modes associated to the dominant spectral lines. We show that wagging and scissoring modes of CO2 give flexibility to the structure for facilitating the lp⊘- np⊘ transition. In our s…
Collisional shifting and broadening coefficients for the rovibrational anisotropic lines of the ν1/2ν2 fermi dyad in CO2 gas studied by stimulated Ra…
1998
High-resolution stimulated Raman spectroscopy was applied to the study of collisional broadening and shifting for rovibrational anisotropic Raman lines of the Fermi dyad of molecular carbon dioxide. The O(J) lines of the ν1 band and the S(J) lines of the 2ν2 band were recorded at 295 K. The pressure-induced line shifts were obtained and compared with the overall shift of the high-density Raman Q-branch. A rotational quantum number dependence of the rovibrational line broadening coefficients was observed. The experimental line broadening coefficients were used in order to check the ability of two theoretical methods (random phase approximation and sum rule) for calculating the line broadenin…
High-Resolution Spectroscopy and Structure of Osmium Tetroxide. A Benchmark Study on 192OsO4
2012
Osmium tetroxide (OsO(4)) is a heavy tetrahedral molecule that constitutes a benchmark for quantum chemistry calculations. Its favorable spin statistics (due to the zero nuclear spin of oxygen atoms) is such that only A(1) and A(2) (T(d) symmetry) rovibrational levels are allowed, leading to a dense but quite easily resolvable spectrum. We reinvestigate here the ν(1)/ν(3) stretching fundamental (940-980 cm(-1)) dyad region and perform new assignments and effective Hamiltonian parameter fits for the main isotopologue ((192)OsO(4)). We also investigate the ν(2)/ν(4) bending fundamental dyad (300-360 cm(-1)) for the first time and perform a preliminary analysis. New experimental data have been…
On the approximation of the similarity-transformed Hamiltonian in single-reference and multireference coupled cluster theory
2012
Abstract We consider the recursive single commutator (RSC) approximation of the Baker–Campbell–Hausdorff expansion introduced by Yanai and Chan [T. Yanai, G.K.-L. Chan, J. Chem. Phys. 124 (2006) 194106] and apply it in order to approximate the similarity transformation of the Hamiltonian in both traditional and unitary coupled cluster theory. The equilibrium bond distance, harmonic vibrational frequency, and anharmonic constant of H2, HF, N2, CuH, and Cu2 were computed using the coupled cluster approach with single and double excitations (CCSD) and CCSD with the RSC approximation of the similarity-transformed Hamiltonian (CCSD-RSC). Our results demonstrate that the RSC approximation introdu…
Synthesis and Isolation of Enantiomerically Enriched Cyclopenta[b]benzofurans Based on Products from Anodic Oxidation of 2,4-Dimethylphenol
2015
The anodic treatment of 2,4-dimethylphenol offers a powerful and direct method for the construction of a dehydrotetramer with four contiguous stereocentres on a multigram scale. The installation of propellanes on this scaffold using enantiomerically pure carbonyl compounds leads to a mixture of diastereomers. This mixture is easily separable using standard chromatography and gives rise to optically pure cyclopenta[b]benzofurans which are important scaffolds in a variety of natural products. The synthesis is easy to perform and allows a reliable access to chiral compounds with very high enantiomeric excess. It was possible to determine the absolute configuration of these compounds by compari…
Full configuration interaction calculation of BeH adiabatic states.
2008
An all-electron full configuration interaction (FCI) calculation of the adiabatic potential energy curves of some of the lower states of BeH molecule is presented. A moderately large ANO basis set of atomic natural orbitals (ANO) augmented with Rydberg functions has been used in order to describe the valence and Rydberg states and their interactions. The Rydberg set of ANOs has been placed on the Be at all bond distances. So, the basis set can be described as 4s3p2d1f3s2p1d(BeH)+4s4p2d(Be). The dipole moments of several states and transition dipole strengths from the ground state are also reported as a function of the R(Be-H) distance. The position and the number of states involved in sever…
Extended Fourier-transform spectroscopy studies and deperturbation analysis of the spin-orbit coupled A1Σ+ and b3Π states in RbCs.
2014
The article presents a study of the strongly spin-orbit coupled singlet A(1)Σ(+) and triplet b(3)Π states of the RbCs molecule, which provide an efficient optical path to transfer ultracold molecules to their rovibrational ground state. Fourier-transform A(1)Σ(+) - b(3)Π → X(1)Σ(+) and (4)(1)Σ(+) → A(1)Σ(+) - b(3)Π laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) spectra were recorded for the natural mixture of the (85)Rb(133)Cs and (87)Rb(133)Cs isotopologues produced in a heat pipe oven. Overall 8730 rovibronic term values of A(1)Σ(+) and b(3)Π states were determined with an uncertainty of 0.01 cm(-1) in the energy range [9012, 14087] cm(-1), covering rotational quantum numbers J ∈ [6, 324]. An energy-ba…
An MO study of neutral C8 high-symmetry clusters
1997
Abstract Highly symmetric octacarbon clusters, i.e. a cube (O h ), a twisted cube (T d ), a tricyclic cage (C 3v ) and a planar (D 4h ) structure, were fully optimized at the HF, B3LYP and MP2(Full) levels of theory. These stationary points were shown to be local minima on the potential energy surface by frequency calculations. The stability of these clusters compared to the cyclic planar (C 4h ) ground state was found to be strongly dependent on the level of theory. MP2(Full) calculations suggest that cubic C 8 is a local minimum, its energy being 273 kJ/mol higher than the ground state. Structural parameters and fundamental vibrations are presented.
Vibrational spectra and DFT calculations of PPV-oligomers
2003
The first two members of the p-phenylenevinylene- oligomer family (i. e. 1, 4-distyrylbenzene [DSB] and 4, 4'-distyrylstilbene [DSS]) were synthesized and their infrared and Raman spectra recorded and empirically assigned. Molecular geometries were optimized for the planar point group (C2h) by the density functional theory (DFT) method using the B3LYP functional and 6-31G* basis set. Calculations of vibrational spectra, including intensities, were carried out subsequently using the DFT method with the same basis set and linear scaling was applied. Calculated vibrational wavenumbers are in a fair agreement with our own experimental spectra. In order to explore changes in vibrational dynamics…
Vibrational Circular Dichroism of Thiolate-Protected Au25 Clusters: Accurate Prediction of Spectra and Chirality Transfer within the Mixed Ligand She…
2019
We have prepared Au25(PET)18-2x((R)-FBI-NAS)x(PET = 2-phenylethylthiol, (R)-FBINAS = (R)-5,5',6,6',7,7',8,8'-octafluoro-[1,1'-binaphthalene]-2,2'-dithiol) mixed ligand shell clusters via ligand exchange. Two fractions with different composition of the ligand shell were separated using size-exclusion chromatography and studied by infrared (IR) spectroscopy and vibrational circular dichroism (VCD). Both IR and VCD spectra are dominated by FBINAS vibrations although PET is more abundant on the cluster. Calculated VCD spectra on a model cluster Au25(SH)16(FBINAS)1 depend on the charge state of the cluster, and the anion is in excellent agreement with the experimental spectra of the Au25(PET)18-…
