Structural factors controlling ligand binding to myoglobin: a kinetic hole-burning study.

Using temperature-derivative spectroscopy in the temperature range below 100 K, we have studied the dependence of the Soret band on the recombination barrier in sperm whale carbonmonoxy myoglobin (MbCO) after photodissociation at 12 K. The spectra were separated into contributions from the photodissociated species, Mb*CO, and CO-bound myoglobin. The line shapes of the Soret bands of both photolyzed and liganded myoglobin were analyzed with a model that takes into account the homogeneous bandwidth, coupling of the electronic transition to vibrational modes, and static conformational heterogeneity. This study aimed to assess thermal and mechanical perception and pain thresholds in primary idiopathic restless legs syndrome and secondary restless legs syndrome associated with small fibre neuropathy. Objective/backgroundWrist-worn sleep actigraphs are limited for evaluating sleep, especially in sleepers who lie awake in bed without moving for extended periods. Sleep logs depend on the accuracy of perceiving and remembering times of being awake. First principles calculations of the vibrational properties of single and dimer F-type centers in corundum crystals

The present paper investigates the F-type centers in α-Al2O3 through their electronic and vibrational properties from first principle calculations using a periodic supercell approach, a hybrid functional, and all-electron Gaussian basis sets as implemented in the CRYSTAL17 code. Single F-type and dimer F2-type centers related to oxygen vacancies in various charge states were considered. The defect-induced vibrational modes were identified and found to appear mainly in the low (up to 300 cm-1) and high (above 700 cm-1) frequency regions, depending on the defect charge.
