El objetivo general es explorar la oposición que establece Thomas Mann entre «cultura» y «civilización» en su libro Consideraciones de un apolítico, en el contexto de la derrota alemana en la Gran Guerra de 1914. El libro es una intervención que busca influir en la toma de posiciones respecto a si había que obstinarse en mantener la noción tradicional de la cultura alemana o revisarla para adecuarse al nuevo espíritu de las democracias vencedoras. Con esta disciplina el Estado italiano colma un vacío de tutela hacia las parejas del mismo sexo y las uniones de hecho This study analyses the same-sex registered partnership and cohabiting couples Act recently approved by the Italian Parliament. Thanks to this, Italy should resolve the legal vacuum that has had as a result a lack of protection for the same-sex couples and the cohabiting couples.

La tesis doctoral tiene como objetivo analizar la relación entre la estructura urbana y la movilidad en el Área Metropolitana de Valencia. El análisis consta de dos fases: un estudio evolutivo del área (1902,1943, 1987, 2017) y un análisis de la situación actual. Uno de los mayores retos del estudio evolutivo ha sido reconstruir la información desde principios de siglo para obtener variables comparables (morfología urbana, medios de transporte y localización de la población). Purpose: To investigate the possible association between ventilatory settings on the first day of invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV) and mortality in patients admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) with severe acute respiratory infection (SARI). Materials and methods: In this pre-planned sub-study of a prospective, multicentre observational study, 441 patients with SARI who received controlled IMV during the ICU stay were included in the analysis. Results: ICU and hospital mortality rates were 23.1 and 28.1%, respectively. AbstractIn childhood the neuronal ceroid lipofuscinoses (NCL) are the most frequent lysosomal diseases and the most frequent neurodegenerative diseases but, in adulthood, they represent a small fraction among the neurodegenerative diseases. Their morphology is marked by: (i) loss of neurons, foremost in the cerebral and cerebellar cortices resulting in cerebral and cerebellar atrophy; (ii) an almost ubiquitous accumulation of lipopigments in nerve cells, but also in extracerebral tissues. [EN] In Valencia, during the dictatorship of Primo de Rivera, the water users´ associations and the Ayuntamiento de Valencia underwent through a fierce conflict. The revision of the legal concession of water diverted from the Turia River for urban uses caused a strong reaction of the agricultural users, which promoted an unprecedented social mobilization and provoked the major’s resignation. The conflict between huerta and city is an interesting indicator of the politicization of Valencian society in the first third of the twentieth century and also of the power of symbolic capital to boost social action.
