Quasi-Fractional Models of Human Tendons Hereditariness

In this study, the authors, after collecting a series of experimental evidences following a creep and relaxation tendon campaign, propose a non-linear model of the viscoelastic behavior of the tendons. The ligaments investigated are the patellars and the hamstrings. The analytical model proposed by the authors aims to explain the non-linear hereditary behavior of these tissues and proposes an approach with which to develop a hereditary fractional-order non-linear model.

Use of accelerometers and gyros for hip and knee angle estimation

In this paper a wearable sensor system, consisting of accelerometers and gyros, has been studied to estimate hip and knee angles. The proposed algorithm, developed in order to avoid the error accumulation due to gyroscopes drift, has been tested on angle measurement of the hip and knee of a commercial device for assisted gait. The results have shown a good accuracy of the angles estimation, also in high angle rate movement

It has been previously reported that 8701-BC cells, derived from a primary carcinoma of the breast, constitutively express parathyroid hormone-related peptide (PTHrP) gene and that N-terminal PTHrP immunoreactivity can be found in cell medium. Here we have firstly measured immunoreactive PTHrP in 8701-BC cell medium using antibodies raised against midregion and C-terminal fragments, and also demonstrated the expression of PTH/PTHrP receptor by 8701-BC cells. Impingement of the Sciatic Nerve due to a Protruding Acetabular Cage Rim

Abstract Sciatic nerve damage is a well-known complication that occurs in 1.5% of patients after primary total hip arthroplasty and in 8% after revision total hip arthroplasty. Yet when considering re-revision arthroplasty and acetabular cage implantation, incidence and management remain unclear. This case report describes a young female patient with sciatic nerve impingement after acetabular cage implantation. Her primary complaint was shooting sciatic left leg pain, worsening on ambulation and when seated. Background: The purpose of this study was to provide a comprehensive assessment of the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the epidemiology of primary and revision arthroplasties of the hip and knee joint. Methods: This study compared the data on knee and hip arthroplasty procedures from 2 hospitals (primary and revision) conducted in two periods: the period of the COVID-19 pandemic in Poland (from 4 March 2020 to 15 October 2020) and the corresponding period prior to the pandemic (from 4 March 2019 to 15 October 2019). Drugie stanowisko przyjmuje, iż „uchwały Sądu Najwyższego stanowią odrębną grupę orzeczeń, nie są jednak orzeczeniami sądu, które dotyczą przedmiotu procesu, ponieważ nie rozstrzygają wprost o jego przedmiocie”. In recent years, we have assisted with an impressive advance in augmented reality systems and computer vision algorithms, based on image processing and artificial intelligence. Thanks to these technologies, mainstream smartphones are able to estimate their own motion in 3D space with high accuracy. Le Festival de la chanson de Sanremo est l’un des événements médiatique plus importants d’Italie. L’édition 2020, centrée sur le thème de la violence faite aux femmes, s’est déroulée sous le feu d’une controverse qui a conduit présentateurs et spectateurs a se questionner en direct sur la « vraie » violence. Notre objectif est de comprendre ce que les normes du genre télévisuel font à la mise en discours de la violence de genre. Le résultat est paradoxal : on aboutit à normaliser le sexisme tout en dénonçant le viol.
