Revitalization of a community site-specific art and art festivals : a case of art site Naoshima

This thesis investigates public art and art festivals in the West, and a large scale art project in Japan, Benesse Art Site Naoshima, which is yet to be defined its place in the academic world. Through the case study of Benesse Art Site Naoshima, public art, site-specific art, art festivals, and a role of art museums are discussed. With the explosion of urban waterfront revitalization projects in the developed world, it is timely to reflect on the relations between cities and their rivers: how the rivers influenced development of the cities, how cities have treated their riverfronts since 19th century, and how the spatial relations of city and river constrain and enable improved connectivity between urban populations and their rivers. Gestural expressions in use for unveiling dynamic experience attributed to verbs

The focus of this paper is on justifying the presented experimental design that aims at examining the enactive linkages between a verb’s content and a sensorimotor experience of movement. The experiment utilised spontaneous production of hand and vocal gestures for expressing the energetic feel attributed to a word. Preliminary qualitative analysis of the expressions shows degrees of similarity in terms of experiential movement qualities. These results imply that conceiving a verb’s meaning is not necessarily far removed from bodily action. peerReviewed

Il testo si propone di tracciare un quadro d'insieme della vita musicale in Sicilia - in particolar modo a Palermo - nel XVIII secolo e di sottolinearne alcuni aspetti, quali i generi musicali più diffusi, le occasioni e i luoghi in cui si faceva musica, le testimonianze rimaste (iconografiche, documentarie).
