Influence of the pressure head sequence on the soil hydraulic conductivity determined with tension infiltrometer

An increasing and a decreasing sequence of pressure head, h0, values were applied with the tension infiltrometer (TI) to determine the corresponding hydraulic conductivity, K0. The pressure head sequence is expected to influence the K0 results given the hysteretic nature of the hydraulic conductivity relationship. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of the selected pressure head sequence on the hydraulic conductivity of a sandy loam soil measured by a multipotential TI experiment. This paper reports experimental densities and refractive indices of binary and ternary systems containing isobutyl alcohol, ethanol, 2-methylpentane, and methyl tert-butyl ether over the whole composition range of mixtures at 298.15 K and atmospheric pressure. From these data, excess molar volumes VE have been calculated. These results are fitted to the Redlich−Kister and Cibulka polynomial equations to derive the binary and ternary coefficients, respectively.

Standard partial molar volumes of alcohols in aqueous dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide solutions

Density measurements of water-dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB)-alcohol ternary systems as a function of alcohol and surfactant concentrations were carried out at 25°C. The alcohols were propanol (PrOH), 2-propanol (2-PrOH) and hexanol (HexOH). The apparent molar volume Vϕ,R of alcohols have been calculated and the standard (infinite dilution) partial molar volumes of alcohols V R at each surfactant concentration were obtained by means of a least squares fit of Vϕ,R vs. the alcohol concentration. Heat capacities and volumes of suspensions in the presence of surfactants

Abstract Density and heat capacity measurements of water–surfactant–silica ternary systems were carried out as functions of the silica and the surfactant concentrations at 298 K. From these properties, the apparent molar volume and heat capacity of the surfactant in a given water+silica mixture were evaluated. As well, the apparent specific volume and heat capacity of silica, at a given concentration, in the water+surfactant mixtures as functions of the surfactant concentration were calculated. Abstract This paper reports experimental densities and refractive indices of the binary systems tert-butyl alcohol (TBA)+methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE), TBA+2-methylpentane, and MTBE+2-methylpentane, and the ternary system TBA+MTBE+2-methylpentane, over the entire range of composition at 303.15 K. Excess molar volumes and changes of refractive indices were evaluated from the experimental data obtained. These derived properties were fitted to variable-degree polynomials. The experimental values of physical properties were compared with the values estimated by different methods of prediction.

The Italian Method of la drammatica: its Legacy and Reception

The volume The Italian Method of la drammatica: its Legacy and Reception includes the long and complex investigation to identify the Italian acting-code system of the drammatica used by nineteenth-century Italian actors such as Adelaide Ristori Giovanni Grasso Tommaso Salvini Eleonora Duse. In particular their acting inspired Stanislavky who reformed twentieth-century stage. The declamatory code of the drammatica was composed by symbols for notation of voice and gesture which Italian actors marked in their prompt-books. The discovery of the drammatica’s code sheds new light on nineteenth-century acting. Having deciphered the phonetic symbols of the code Anna Sica has given birth an investigation with a group of outstanding scholars in an attempt to explore the drammatica’s legacy and its reception in Europe as well as in Asia. At this stage new evidence has emerged proving that for instance the symbol used by the drammatica actors to sign the colorito vocale was known to English actors in the second half of the nineteenth century. By noting how Adelaide Ristori passed on her art to Irving’s actress Genevieve Ward and how Stanislavsky almost aflame moulded his system from Duse’s acting an unexplored variety in the reception of the drammatica’s legacy is revealed.Settore L-ART/05 - Discipline Dello Spettacolo

The volume Tommaso Maria Napoli Utriusque Architecturae Brief Compendium 1688 Rome treaty on civil and military factories and preservation of the architecture of the Dominican friar Tommaso Maria Napoli wants to help increase our understanding of the principles that should underpin the realization of civil and military baroque and late baroque period as expressed in the short treatise written by the monk architect born in Palermo Tommaso Maria Napoli (1659-1725) and published in Rome at the end of the seventeenth century. This translation from the Latin of the treaty drawn up by experts (Fabio Zarbo e Pietro Zarbo) included is an interesting research drafted jointly with Giuseppe Tantillo status of some of the architecture without realizing or attributed to the architect Tommaso Maria Napoli. In fact some cards are attached to the volume on the substance and state of preservation of the cathedral of the Assumption of Mary in Dubrovnik (Croatia) of the villas Valguarnera and Palagonia in Bagheria (near Palermo Italy) of the monument to the Immaculate and one of the towers of the church of San Domenico in Palermo (Italy). The volume is enriched by the presentation and afterword by Francesco Tomaselli that among other things starting from the definition of Restoration expressed by Tommaso Maria Napoli in his book presents a stimulating reflection on the meaning of Restoration.
