Papillon Lefevre syndrome: bridge between Dermatologist and Dentist

Papillon-Lefevre syndrome is a rare autosomal recessively inherited condition which shows features common to both dentistry and dermatology. This disease is characterized by palmoplantar hyperkeratosis and severe periodon- titis. Therefore both the dentist and the dermatologist should be aware of the same because an early diagnosis of the syndrome can help to preserve the teeth by early institution of treatment, using a multidisciplinary approach. Here we present a case report of Papillon-Lefevre syndrome, along with a comprehensive review of the etiology, pathology, clinical features, differential diagnosis and management of the condition.

Abstract Aims Mitral annuloplasty using the Carillon Mitral Contour System (CMCS) reduces secondary mitral regurgitation (SMR) and leads to reverse left ventricular remodelling. Psychiatric diagnoses, static risk factors and criminogenic needs at time of admission and release were examined in a mentally ill sample of psychiatrically detained sexual offenders. Although clinically found to be at low or even very low risk at discharge, 12% reoffended sexually over an average follow up of 7 years. Psychotic disorders were present in only 5% of offenders, whereas 93% had a personality disorder diagnosis and 76%, a paraphilic disorder diagnosis. Only exhibitionism and alcohol misuse were associated with relapse. The aim of this study was to compare patients with transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) receiving new generation prostheses SAPIEN 3 (S3, Edwards Lifesc.) and Evolut R (ER, Medtronic Inc.) in terms of periprocedural and long-term outcome. Our retrospective, single-center analysis included 359 consecutive patients with severe aortic stenosis who underwent TAVR with S3 or ER from 2014–2016 (mean age 82 ± 7 years, 47% male, mean EuroSCORE II 8.0 ± 8%, mean follow-up 3.8 years). The aim of this study was to investigate whether a special prosthetic training in phantom limb pain patients aimed at increasing the functional use of the prosthesis leads to neural morphological plasticity of brain structures and a reduction in phantom limb pain. For chronic pain disorders, it was shown that morphological alterations due to pain might become at least partially reversed by pain therapies. Phantom limb pain is a chronic pain disorder that is frequently followed by neural plasticity of anatomical brain structures. This study focused on the development of a manufacturing process of laminated composites made from DGEBA epoxy matrix and flax fibers. The aim is to produce a material with good and low dispersed mechanical properties. Thermocompression is the chosen manufacturing method because it enables the production of composite with high fiber content. We used separated matrix and reinforcement, and not a prepreg, to fully control each component of our composites. Several curing cycle parameters have been tested in order to optimize mechanical properties and processing time.
