Cloud Computing Vulnerabilities Analysis
2019
Nowadays cloud computing technologies are the most widely used tools due to their great flexibility and also to their lower maintenance costs. Many vendors of cloud computing have appeared on the market for each type of cloud. These solutions still pose certain vulnerabilities and work to improve the security of cloud computing technologies. We analyze the main cloud computing solutions, analyze the vulnerabilities identified for these solutions, and also calculate the impact of these vulnerabilities based on the NVD scores. We average the scores for each solution for each cloud computing model. This way, we can see the impact of the vulnerabilities identified so far for each cloud computin…
Ellenberg’s Indicator values for the Flora of Italy – first update: Pteridophyta, Gymnospermae and Monocotyledoneae
2012
Ellenberg’s indicator values are an useful tool to delineate the relationship between plants and environment, recognising to each species a functional role as biological indicator. In the frame of the second edition of the Pignatti’s “Flora d’Italia”, some new informative systems are under preparations, in order to support geobotanical/applied studies, including a complete and updated review of the Ellenberg’s indicator values for the whole bulk of species mentioned in the flora of Italy. This first contribution includes a list of 380 species of Pteridophyta, Gymnospermae and Monocotiledoneae that complete the first assignment of the Ellenberg’s indicator values to the flora of Italy, publi…

Quantum chemical modelling of electron polarons and green luminescence in PbTiO3perovskite crystals
2002
In an extension of our previous study on the electron polarons and excitons in KNbO3, KTaO3 and BaTiO3 (Kotomin E A, Eglitis R I and Borstel G 2000 J. Phys. Condens. Matter 12 L557; Eglitis R I, Kotomin E A and Borstel G 2002 J. Phys. Condens. Matter 14 3735) by the semiempirical Hartree–Fock method we present here results for free electron polarons in the PbTiO3 perovskite crystal. We discuss the origin of the intrinsic visible band emission of PbTiO3 perovskite oxides (so-called 'green luminescence') which has remained a topic of high interest during the last quarter of a century. We present a theoretical calculation modelling this emission in the framework of a concept of charge transfer…
Online Meetings in Times of Global Crisis: Toward Sustainable Conferencing
2020
International conferences are an essential component of the timely exchange of ideas and results in the scientific community, where scientists present their results, gain new insights, and meet colleagues and collaborators. In early 2020, a global pandemic caused by a coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) and the corresponding disease (covid-19) resulted in a number of conferences being canceled or postponed. (1) To foster scientific exchange despite the restrictions, a range of initiatives were launched across the globe to move international conferences online. (2−8) [...]
Interface engineering in efficient vacuum deposited perovskite solar cells
2016
Abstract We studied the effect of the charge transport layers in p-i-n perovskite solar cells using vacuum deposited methylammonium lead iodide thin-film absorbers. While solution-processed perovskite films are frequently deposited directly on PEDOT:PSS leading to good solar cell performances, in some cases even to very good Voc values, we show that in devices employing vacuum deposited MAPbI3 perovskites, the removal of the polyTPD electron blocker substantially reduces the photovoltaic behavior. This is indicative of rather different charge transport properties in the vacuum deposited MAPbI3 perovskites compared to those prepared from solution. On the other hand, we investigated the use o…
G. Zotova “Mēneša zīmoga" un " Sestdienas galvaskausa" poētika: antiutopijas žanra modifikācija.
2016
Diāna Djačenko G. Zotova „Mēneša zīmoga” un „Sestdienas galvaskausa” poētika: antiutopijas žanra modifikācija: maģistra darbs. – Rīga, 2016. – 54 lpp. Pamatojoties uz veikto pētījumu, secināts, ka G. A. Zot…
Melanoma cells release extracellular vesicles which contain H1° RNA and RNA-binding proteins
2015
G26/24 oligodendroglioma cells produce EVs that contain pro-apoptotic proteins, such as FasL and TRAIL, able to induce neuronal- [1] and astrocytic- [2] death. Cancer cells release EVs [3] through which transferring proteins, such as extracellular matrix remodelling proteases [4], and H1°, a differentiation-specific histone [5]. By releasing H1°, cells could escape differentiation cues [5]. To verify the role of EVs in releasing specific proteins and mRNAs, in this study we used A375 melanoma cells. EVs were purified from cell culture media as previously reported [1, 2]. T1 RNase-protection assays were performed on total cell lysates and EVs, as described elsewhere [6]. RNA-binding proteins…
