Emotional reactions to movies are typically similar between people. However, depressive symptoms decrease synchrony in brain responses. Less is known about the effect of depressive symptoms on intersubject synchrony in conscious stimulus-related processing. In this study, we presented amusing, sad and fearful movie clips to dysphoric individuals (those with elevated depressive symptoms) and control participants to dynamically rate the clips’ valences (positive vs. negative). Transitivity prominence within and across modalities

The idea of transitivity as a scalar phenomenon is well known (e.g., Hopper & Thompson 1980; Tsunoda 1985; Haspelmath 2015). However, as with most areas of linguistic study, it has been almost exclusively studied with a focus on spoken languages. A rare exception to this is Kimmelman (2016), who investigates transitivity in Russian Sign Language (RSL) on the basis of corpus data. Kimmelman attempts to establish a transitivity prominence hierarchy of RSL verbs, and compares this ranking to the verb meanings found in the ValPal database (Hartmann, Haspelmath & Bradley 2013). The ambivalence of English manifests itself in the discourses that surround it. English may be a resource and consume resources; it empowers and oppresses. The dichotomous discussion around the usefulness or dangers of English as a “global” or “world” language erases problematizations of the layered societal implications of English in localised contexts. Abstract and concrete tangent modules on Lipschitz differentiability spaces

We construct an isometric embedding from Gigli's abstract tangent module into the concrete tangent module of a space admitting a (weak) Lipschitz differentiable structure, and give two equivalent conditions which characterize when the embedding is an isomorphism. Together with arguments from a recent article by Bate--Kangasniemi--Orponen, this equivalence is used to show that the ${\rm Lip}-{\rm lip}$ -type condition ${\rm lip} f\le C|Df|$ implies the existence of a Lipschitz differentiable structure, and moreover self-improves to ${\rm lip} f =|Df|$. Pro Gradu -tutkielmani ensisijaisena tarkoituksena on ollut selvittää, millaista on olla äiti nykyajan yhteiskunnassa, jossa äitiin ja äitiyteen kohdistuu monia ristiriitaisia odotuksia ja vaatimuksia. Toiseksi olen selvittänyt, miten äitiyttä ja äitiyden identiteettiä rakennetaan arjen käytännöissä ja näihin läheisesti liittyvänä kolmantena tehtävänä olen tarkastellut, millaiset perheeseen ja yhteiskuntaan liittyvät tekijät vetävät äitiä eri suuntiin eli tekevät äitiydestä ambivalenttia. In 2017, Finnish celebrity Sini Ariell published a blog post titled “F*** this shit” in which she revealed her difficult feelings as a mother of a newborn baby. Attracting attention from Finnish media, the post went viral. Through the empirical analysis of affective reactions to the post on an anonymous online discussion board, we explore how the limits of the public expression of negative maternal feelings are negotiated and maintained, but also challenged. Tämän pro gradu -tutkielman tarkoitus oli selvittää saksan kielen rakenteen bleiben + zu + infinitiivi ruotsinkielisiä vastineita. Halusin ottaa selvää, mitkä seikat ensisijaisesti vaikuttavat ruotsinkielisen ilmauksen valintaan. Lisäksi tutkin, mitä pääverbiä rakenteen yhteydessä sekä ruotsinkielisissä vastineissa käytetään. Lopulta analysoin, mitkä ruotsin kielen ilmaisut voidaan tulkita olevan merkitykseltään ekvivalentteja saksan kielen rakenteen kanssa.
