Fractional integration, differentiation, and weighted Bergman spaces
1999
We study the action of fractional differentiation and integration on weighted Bergman spaces and also the Taylor coeffficients of functions in certain subclasses of these spaces. We then derive several criteria for the multipliers between such spaces, complementing and extending various recent results. Univalent Bergman functions are also considered.
Nearly tight bounds on the learnability of evolution
2002
Evolution is often modeled as a stochastic process which modifies DNA. One of the most popular and successful such processes are the Cavender-Farris (CF) trees, which are represented as edge weighted trees. The Phylogeny Construction Problem is that of, given /spl kappa/ samples drawn from a CF tree, output a CF tree which is close to the original. Each CF tree naturally defines a random variable, and the gold standard for reconstructing such trees is the maximum likelihood estimator of this variable. This approach is notoriously computationally expensive. We show that a very simple algorithm, which is a variant on one of the most popular algorithms used by practitioners, converges on the t…
Analysis of the determinants of entrepreneurial intention: the case of Burkina Faso
2018
International audience; In this study, we propose to analyze students' entrepreneurial intention, drawing on Lazear's (2004) self-selection model. This model captures the role of "human capital" in employment assignment and emphasizes the importance of the variety of skills in the individual's entrepreneurial orientation. For this purpose, we have a database collected in 2017 from over 1000 students at Ouaga I and Ouaga II universities in Burkina Faso. The results of estimates obtained using the quantile regression method show a positive and significant effect of the diversity of skills on the intention score, mainly at the median level. Even if the effect is not strong, this result support…
Vector-Valued Hardy Spaces
2019
Given a Banach space X, we consider Hardy spaces of X-valued functions on the infinite polytorus, Hardy spaces of X-valued Dirichlet series (defined as the image of the previous ones by the Bohr transform), and Hardy spaces of X-valued holomorphic functions on l_2 ∩ B_{c0}. The chapter is dedicated to study the interplay between these spaces. It is shown that the space of functions on the polytorus always forms a subspace of the one of holomorphic functions, and these two are isometrically isomorphic if and only if X has ARNP. Then the question arises of what do we find in the side of Dirichlet series when we look at the image of the Hardy space of holomorphic functions. This is also answer…
Unitary Space–Time Constellation Design Based on the Chernoff Bound of the Pairwise Error Probability
2008
Unitary space-time constellation design is considered for noncoherent multiple-antenna communications, where neither the transmitter nor the receiver knows the fading coefficients of the channel. By employing the Clarke's subdifferential theorem of the sum of the kappa largest singular values of a unitary matrix, we present a numerical optimization procedure for finding unitary space-time signal constellations of any dimension. The Chernoff bound of the pairwise error probability is used directly as a design criterion. The constellations are found by performing gradient descent search on a family ldquosurrogaterdquo functions that converge to the maximum pairwise error probability. The comp…
Total curvatures of compact complex submanifolds in $$C/P^n$$
1995
LetM be a complex submanifold in\(C/P^n\). We define the total curvatures ofM and we get a local interpretation of them. Finally, we give a topological characterization for the total (non-absolute) curvature of complex hypersurfaces in\(C/P^n\).
H<inf>∞</inf> filter design for time-delay Markovian jump systems
2013
This paper investigates the H ∞ filtering problem for discrete time-delay Markovian jump systems with application to networked control systems. To design a full-order filter which ensures the stochastic stability and a prescribed H ∞ performance level for the filtering error system, the Scaled Small Gain (SSG) Theorem is developed for stochastic systems. By employing a two-term approximation to delayed state variables, the original system is transformed into an input-output form consisting of two subsystems. Based on the developed SSG Theorem and the proposed Lyapunov-Krasovskii Functional (LKF), the scaled small gains of the subsystems are analyzed to establish a new condition for the exis…
Multi-sensor Fusion through Adaptive Bayesian Networks
2011
Common sensory devices for measuring environmental data are typically heterogeneous, and present strict energy constraints; moreover, they are likely affected by noise, and their behavior may vary across time. Bayesian Networks constitute a suitable tool for pre-processing such data before performing more refined artificial reasoning; the approach proposed here aims at obtaining the best trade-off between performance and cost, by adapting the operating mode of the underlying sensory devices. Moreover, self-configuration of the nodes providing the evidence to the Bayesian network is carried out by means of an on-line multi-objective optimization.
MOTIVACIÓN Y ESTILO ATRIBUCIONAL SOBRE EL RENDIMIENTO ACADÉMICO EN EDUCACIÓN INFANTIL
2016
New prognostic markers in neuroblastoma
2013
Introduction: The hallmark of neuroblastoma is its clinical and biological heterogeneity, with the likelihood of cure varying widely according to age at diagnosis, extent of disease and tumor biology. We hope this review will be useful for understanding part of the unfamiliar neuroblastoma codex. Areas covered: In the first part of this review, the authors summarize the currently used prognostic factors for risk-adapted therapy, with the focus on clinical management of neuroblastoma patients. In the second part, the authors discuss the evolving prognostic factors for future treatment schemes. A search of online medical research databases was undertaken focusing especially on literature publ…
