The effect of an advertisement’s colour on emotions evoked by attitude towards the ad

Despite its importance surprisingly little is known about the influence of colour in advertising. This paper studies the effects of the three components of an ad’s colour (hue, saturation and lightness) on the emotions it evokes and on attitudes towards it. It is assumed that the influence of colour varies with the individual, whose optimal stimulation level (OSL) is considered a moderator variable. Analyses of covariance were conducted. The results show that OSL is a moderator variable accounting for the relations between hue and the pleasure evoked by the ad, and hue and the attitude towards the ad. The role of atomic static displacements in binary-alloy formation

Abstract A microscopic approach to considering the influence of local atomic static displacements (LASD) on binary alloy thermodynamic properties has been developed. The explicit expression for the free energy of a disordered alloy is derived within the collective variables method. The LASD are shown to promote formation of a disordered alloy. The theory is illustrated by numerical calculations performed for alloys of the Ca–Ba system. Dependence of the alloy formation heat on temperature and concentration obtained numerically agrees perfectly with the experimental data.

Analytic solutions of the diffusion-deposition equation for fluids heavir than atmospheric air

A steady-state bi-dimensional turbulent diffusion equation was studied to find the concentration distribution of a pollutant near the ground. We have considered the air pollutant emitted from an elevated point source in the lower atmosphere in adiabatic conditions. The wind velocity and diffusion coefficient are given by power laws. We have found analytical solutions using or the Lie Group Analysis or the Method of Separation of Variables. The classical diffusion equation has been modified introducing the falling term with non-zero deposition velocity. Analytical solutions are essential to test numerical models for the great difficulty in validating with experiments.

This paper deals with the observer design for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models subject to unknown inputs and disturbance affecting both states and outputs of the system. Sufficient conditions to design an unknown input T-S observer are given in linear matrix inequality (LMI) terms. Both continuous-time and discrete-time cases are studied. Relaxations are introduced by using intermediate variables. Extension to the case of unmeasured decision variables is also given. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the given results.

This chapter presents some recent advances in surrogate-assisted evolutionary optimization of large problems. By large problems, we mean either the number of decision variables is large, or the number of objectives is large, or both. These problems pose challenges to evolutionary algorithms themselves, constructing surrogates and surrogate management. To address these challenges, we proposed two algorithms, one called kriging-assisted reference vector guided evolutionary algorithm (K-RVEA) for many-objective optimization, and the other called cooperative swarm optimization algorithm (SA-COSO) for high-dimensional single-objective optimization. On the checking of g-coherence of conditional probability bounds

We illustrate an approach to uncertain knowledge based on lower conditional probability bounds. We exploit the coherence principle of de Finetti and a related notion of generalized coherence (g-coherence), which is equivalent to the "avoiding uniform loss" property introduced by Walley for lower and upper probabilities. Based on the additive structure of random gains, we define suitable notions of non relevant gains and of basic sets of variables.
