Higher nucleon resonances in exclusive(γ,πN)reactions on nuclei
1998
We report calculations for exclusive pion photoproduction on nuclei beyond the first resonance region in the distorted wave impulse approximation. The elementary operator contains contributions from the resonances $P_{33}(1232)$, $P_{11}(1440)$, $D_{13}(1520)$, $D_{33}(1740)$, $S_{11}(1535)$, $S_{11}(1650)$, and $F_{15}(1680)$, in addition to the usual Born plus vector meson contributions. It gives a good description of single pion photoproduction data up to about 1.1 GeV. Final state interactions are incorporated via optical potentials and are found to be substantial in the coincidence cross sections, but insensitive to the photon asymmetry. Clear signatures of possible medium modification…
Exclusive Vector Meson Production at the EIC
2020
We discuss how vector meson production at the future Electron Ion Collider can be used to probe non-linear dynamics in heavy nuclei. Additionally, the potential to study the evolution of proton and nuclear geometries with event-by-event fluctuations is illustrated.
Impact parameter dependent JIMWLK evolution meets HERA data
2019
We calculate the small-$x$ evolution of protons with finite size by solving numerically the JIMWLK evolution equation. The initial condition is constrained by the HERA measurements of charm reduced cross section and of exclusive vector meson production. We compute the energy dependence of diffractive cross sections in order to access the energy evolution of the event-by-event fluctuating proton density profile. The fundamental problems arising from the regime sensitive to non-perturbatively large dipoles are also discussed.
Photoproduction of thef2′(1525), a2(1320), andK2*(1430)
2016
Assuming that the ${f}_{2}^{\ensuremath{'}}(1525), {a}_{2}(1320)$, and ${K}_{2}^{*}(1430)$ resonances are dynamically generated states from vector-meson--vector-meson interactions in the $s$-wave with spin $S=2$, we study the $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{f}_{2}^{\ensuremath{'}}(1525)p, \ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{a}_{2}^{0}(1320)p$, and $\ensuremath{\gamma}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}_{2}^{*}(1430)\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}(\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}})$ reactions. These reactions proceed in the following way: the incoming photon first mutates into a ${\ensuremath{\rho}}^{0}, \ensuremath{\omega}$, or $\ensuremath{\phi}$ meson via vector-meson dominance, …
Measurement of OZI rule violation and spin alignment inϕandωproduction at COMPASS
2012
The COMPASS collaboration at CERN dedicated the 2008 and 2009 run time to hadron spectroscopy measurements with emphasis on the mesonic sector. At 190 GeV/c beam momentum, diffractive and double-Reggeon/Pomeron production mechanisms contribute. Studying vector meson production allows to explore this relatively unknown transition domain. We present results on the ratio of production yields for p p → (1020) p p ϕ and p p → p p ω (782) and its xF dependence where we find an OZI rule violation in the order of a factor of 3. In addition, the spin alignment of ω and ϕ as a function of xF is investigated.
Semileptonic decays of B(*) , D(*) into νl and pseudoscalar or vector mesons
2018
We perform a study of the ${B}^{(*)}$, ${D}^{(*)}$ semileptonic decays, using a different method than in conventional approaches, where the matrix elements of the weak operators are evaluated and a detailed spin-angular momentum algebra is performed to obtain very simple expressions at the end for the different decay modes. Using only one experimental decay rate in the $B$ or $D$ sectors, the rates for the rest of decay modes are predicted and they are in good agreement with experiment. Some discrepancies are observed in the $\ensuremath{\tau}$ decay mode for which we find an explanation. We perform evaluations for ${B}^{*}$ and ${D}^{*}$ decay rates that can be used in future measurements,…
Working group on goldstone boson production and decay
2008
This is the summary of the working group on Goldstone Boson Production and Decay of the Chiral Dynamics Workshop in Mainz, September 1–5, 1997. For the production aspects we discuss π0 and η production in nucleon-nucleon collisions and the behaviour of hadrons in various sum rules. For the decays we present a discussion on various K, η and π decay channels. Other aspects discussed are a new treatment of meson-meson scattering, the light-by-light contribution to the muon anomalous magnetic moment and progress in various aspects of the p 6 generating functional in the mesonic sector.
The width of the omega meson in dense matter
2014
We obtain the width of the $\omega$ meson in dense nuclear matter by taking into account (i) the free decay of the $\omega$ into three pions, which is dominated by $\rho \pi$ mode, (ii) the processes induced by a vector-baryon interaction dominated by vector meson exchange, and (iii) the $\omega \to K \bar K$ mechanism in matter. The $\omega$ meson develops an important width in matter, coming from the dominant $\omega \to \rho\pi$ decay mode, with a value of $121 \pm 10$ MeV at normal nuclear matter density for an $\omega$ at rest. At finite momentum, the width of the $\omega$ meson increases moderately with values of 200 MeV at 600 MeV/c.
THE X(3872) AND OTHER X,Y,Z RESONANCES AS HIDDEN CHARM MESON-MESON MOLECULES
2011
We report on some ideas concerning the nature of the X(3872) resonance and the need for approximately equal charged and neutral components of $D \bar{D}^* +cc$. Then we discuss how some hidden charm states are obtained from the interaction between vector mesons with charm and can be associated to some of the charmonium-like X,Y,Z states. Finally we discuss how the nature of these states could be investigated through different types of radiative decay.
Exclusive radiative B-meson decays within the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model
2012
In the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model, the alignment of Yukawa matrices in flavour space guarantees the absence of tree-level flavour-changing neutral currents, while allowing at the same time for new sources of CP violation, implying potentially large effects in many low-energy processes. In this work we study the constraints from exclusive radiative $B\to V\gamma$ decays, where $V$ denotes a light vector meson. The current experimental data on the CP-averaged branching ratios and the direct CP and isospin asymmetries are analyzed. It is found that, while the branching ratios and direct CP asymmetries do not constrain the parameter space much further compared to the inclusive $B\to X_{s,d…
