Structural study, thermal expansion and electrical conductivity of the composition NaSnZr(PO4)3

1993

Abstract The structure of the composition NaSnZr(PO4)3 and its evolution with temperature has been studied. The structure presents the space group R 3 c. The refinement of the structure shows that the Sn and Zr atoms are statistically distributed over the same crystallographic position. The unit cell expands in the c direction and contracts in the a direction, remaining the space group R 3 c at temperatures between 26 and 1000°C. The low value of the electrical conductivity at 400°C, 5.729×10−7S/cm and the low density of the pellets limited the use as electrical conductor.

Redesign of the Geometry of Parts Produced from PBT Composite to Improve Their Operational Behavior

2021

Parts produced from PBT-GF30 (70% polybutylene terephthalate +30% fiberglass) are very often used in car construction, due to the properties of this material. The current trend is to make parts with a shape designed to be as complex as possible, to take over many functions in operation. During the research, a part that is a component of the structure of car safety systems, and that must be completely reliable in operation, was analyzed. This piece has a complex shape that involves the intersection of several walls. Thus, the research aimed at establishing the optimal radius of connection between the walls (R), the ratio between the thickness of the intersecting walls (K) and the angle of in…

Surface acceleration during dry laser cleaning of silicon

1999

We report on measurements of the surface acceleration for the application of dry laser cleaning. For that purpose, industrial silicon samples were irradiated by a frequency-doubled Q-switched Nd:YAG laser. The surface displacement was measured by a heterodyne interferometer and recorded by a digital storage oscilloscope. Several hundreds of shots were averaged to give smooth displacement curves which could be derived numerically. The experiments show that the highest accelerations, which are thought to be responsible for the cleaning, occur on the time scale of the laser pulse. Simple theoretical models are in good agreement with the experimental data. The maximal displacement depends only …

Nanovectorization of TRAIL with single wall carbon nanotubes enhances tumor cell killing

2015

International audience; Tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL or Apo2L) is a member of the tumor necrosis factor (TNF) superfamily. This type II transmembrane protein is able to bound specifically to cancer cell receptors (i.e., TRAIL-R1 (or DR4) and TRAIL-R2 (or DR5)) and to induce apoptosis without being toxic for healthy cells. Because membrane-bound TRAIL induces stronger receptor aggregation and apoptosis than soluble TRAIL, we proposed here to vectorize TRAIL using single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) to mimic membrane TRAIL. Owing to their exceptional and revolutional properties, carbon nanotubes, especially SWCNTs, are used in a wide range of physical or,…

The influence of laser beam-width and focusing angle about the precision of cutting metallic materials

2005

To realize a high precision cutting operation, we must know the position and pointing of the beam axis- which are defined in accordance with ISO, by the centers of gravity of energy density distributions at different distances from the exit lens of laser. The angle of focalization must be related at least with; material width, beam energy, cutting speed, precision requirements and workpiece destination. Authors have realized experimental set-up for simultaneous measurement of energy density distributions, correlated with the mentioned working parameters. Besides the geometrical details, the authors studied also the influence of different values of beam density, about the zone affected by he…

Carbon nanotube – Protamine hybrid: Evaluation of DNA cell penetration

2016

International audience; Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) represent a class of nanomaterials with important potential for biomedical and biotechnological applications. CNT based vectorization is an emerging approach to the transport of nucleic acid through cell membrane but limited by detachment of DNA and degradation process. To increase DNA internalization, it was proved that cationic functionalized CNT was essential. In such a way, protamine efficiently used in several transfection processes is a cationic protein which was never associated to CNT.We propose here a novel nanovector based on single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNT) functionalized by protamine. Our results based on qPCR methods clearly…

Diagonalization of large matrices: a new parallel algorithm.

2015

On the basis of a dressed matrices formalism, a new algorithm has been devised for obtaining the lowest eigenvalue and the corresponding eigenvector of large real symmetric matrices. Given an N × N matrix, the proposed algorithm consists in the diagonalization of (N - 1)2 × 2 dressed matrices. Both sequential and parallel versions of the proposed algorithm have been implemented. Tests have been performed on a Hilbert matrix, and the results show that this algorithm is up 340 times faster than the corresponding LAPACK routine for N = 10(4) and about 10% faster than the Davidson method. The parallel MPI version has been tested using up to 512 nodes. The speed-up for a N = 10(6) matrix is fair…
