Contributions of internal nucleon structure to the nuclear charge and current operators

1983

The relativistic pair current and contributions of nucleon isobars are evaluated in the constituent-quark model. Isovector charge and isoscalar current contributions change substantially compared to previous calculations. The magnetic form factor of the deuteron and the charge form factors of3He and3H are modifed significantly and the previously predicted large differences in the form factors of3He and3H are considerably reduced.

Nuclear structure theory for the astrophysical rp-process and r-process

2003

Abstract The astrophysical processes of rapid-proton capture and rapid-neutron capture require the knowledge of many nuclear properties which are not known from experiment. I will describe two examples of how theoretical models are used to provide this input. The first of these uses the Hartree-Fock method for displacement energies to obtain the masses of proton-rich nuclei needed for the rp-process. The second uses a model for configuration mixing near 132 Sn to provide Q values and beta-decay lifetimes for the r-process.

E0 suppression in pion photoproduction on 13C

1990

Abstract Recently measured anomalously low cross sections for 13 C(γ, π − ) 13 N at low energy and θ π lab = 90° 0761 have been analyzed in a DWIA calculation. It has been found that the EO contribution alone is able to explain the data, so that the M1 cross section is expected to vanish. Using constraints from recent magnetic electron scattering, an explanation is possible by assuming a significantly lower reduced density matrix element for spin-flip isovector transitions with angular momentum L = 2 than predicted by Cohen and Kurath.

DirectX(3872)production ine+e−collisions

2014

Abstract Direct production of the charmonium-like state X ( 3872 ) in e + e − collisions is considered in the framework of the vector meson dominance model. An order-of-magnitude estimate for the width Γ ( X → e + e − ) is found to be ≳0.03 eV. The same approach applied to the χ c 1 charmonium decay predicts the corresponding width of the order 0.1 eV in agreement with earlier estimates. Experimental perspectives for the direct production of the 1 + + charmonia in e + e − collisions are briefly discussed.

Determination of the S-wave pion nucleon scattering lengths from πN, pionic hydrogen and deuteron

2005

The isoscalar and isovector scattering lengths ( b 0 , b 1 ) are determined using a unitarized coupled channel approach based on chiral Lagrangians. For the deuterium scattering length a π − d new significant corrections are evaluated, putting new constraints from π − d scattering on the values of ( b 0 , b 1 ) .

The two Λ(1405) poles from photoproduction data

2015

We present results extracting the position of the two Λ(1405) poles from experimental photoproduction data measured recently at different energies in the γp → K + π 0 Σ 0 and γp → K + π ± Σ ∓ reactions at Jefferson Lab. The analysis is done by means of a chiral dynamics motivated potential but with free parameters, which guarantees analyticity and unitarity in the solutions. With the best result we find the two Λ(1405) poles at about 1352 − 48 i MeV and 1419 − 29 i MeV.

Threshold pion photoproduction in a light-cone quark model

1991

Abstract The instantaneous and seagull graphs are calculated for pion photoproduction in a relativistic light-cone model of the nucleon. In both pseudoscalar and pseudovector coupling we find the ratios A (−) : A (0) : A (+) = 1: ( −1 2 μ):( −9 5 μ) in the nonrelativistic limit. These results correspond to the sum of seagull and Z -graph in the nonrelativistic quark model. In pseudovector coupling also the numerical results for realistic-model parameters are close to those values.

Photoproduction of delta and Roper resonances in the cloudy bag model.

1988

The photoproduction of delta and Roper resonances has been calculated within the framework of the cloudy bag model. Two alternative formulations, the original pseudoscalar surface coupling and the pseudovector volume coupling of pions, have been used, and the results are compared. The helicity amplitudes are in fair agreement with experimental data, the prediction for the small ${E}_{1+}$/${M}_{1+}$ ratio for delta production is -1.8% for a bag radius of 1 fm and pseudovector coupling.
