The width of the omega meson in dense matter
2014
We obtain the width of the $\omega$ meson in dense nuclear matter by taking into account (i) the free decay of the $\omega$ into three pions, which is dominated by $\rho \pi$ mode, (ii) the processes induced by a vector-baryon interaction dominated by vector meson exchange, and (iii) the $\omega \to K \bar K$ mechanism in matter. The $\omega$ meson develops an important width in matter, coming from the dominant $\omega \to \rho\pi$ decay mode, with a value of $121 \pm 10$ MeV at normal nuclear matter density for an $\omega$ at rest. At finite momentum, the width of the $\omega$ meson increases moderately with values of 200 MeV at 600 MeV/c.
THE X(3872) AND OTHER X,Y,Z RESONANCES AS HIDDEN CHARM MESON-MESON MOLECULES
2011
We report on some ideas concerning the nature of the X(3872) resonance and the need for approximately equal charged and neutral components of $D \bar{D}^* +cc$. Then we discuss how some hidden charm states are obtained from the interaction between vector mesons with charm and can be associated to some of the charmonium-like X,Y,Z states. Finally we discuss how the nature of these states could be investigated through different types of radiative decay.
Signatures of bosonic squark decays in non-minimally flavour-violating supersymmetry
2010
We investigate couplings of squarks to gauge and Higgs-bosons within the framework of non-minimal flavour violation in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model. Introducing non-diagonal elements in the mass matrices of squarks, we first study their impact on the self-energies and physical mass eigenvalues of squarks. We then present an extensive analysis of bosonic squark decays for variations of the flavour-violating parameters around the two benchmark scenarios SPS1a' and SPS1b. Signatures, that would be characteristic for a non-minimal flavour structure in the squark sector, can be found in wide regions of the parameter space.
Vector form factor of the pion in chiral effective field theory
2015
The vector form factor of the pion is calculated in the framework of chiral effective field theory with vector mesons included as dynamical degrees of freedom. To construct an effective field theory with a consistent power counting, the complex-mass scheme is applied.
Exclusive radiative B-meson decays within the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model
2012
In the aligned two-Higgs-doublet model, the alignment of Yukawa matrices in flavour space guarantees the absence of tree-level flavour-changing neutral currents, while allowing at the same time for new sources of CP violation, implying potentially large effects in many low-energy processes. In this work we study the constraints from exclusive radiative $B\to V\gamma$ decays, where $V$ denotes a light vector meson. The current experimental data on the CP-averaged branching ratios and the direct CP and isospin asymmetries are analyzed. It is found that, while the branching ratios and direct CP asymmetries do not constrain the parameter space much further compared to the inclusive $B\to X_{s,d…
Light vector meson production in pp collisions at s=7 TeV
2012
The ALICE experiment has measured low-mass dimuon production in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV in the dimuon rapidity region 2.5 < y < 4. The observed dimuon mass spectrum is described as a superposition of resonance decays (eta, rho, omega, eta', phi) into muons and semi-leptonic decays of charmed mesons. The measured production cross sections for omega and phi are sigma(omega)(1 < p(t) < 5 GeV/c. 2.5 < y < 4) = 5.28 +/- 0.54(stat) +/- 0.49(syst) mb and sigma(phi)(1 < p(t) < 5 GeV/c. 2.5 < y < 4) = 0.940 +/- 0.084(stat) +/- 0.076(syst) mb. The differential cross sections d(2)sigma/dy dp(t) are extracted as a function of p(t) for omega and phi. The ratio between the rho and omega cross sec…
An estimate for the thermal photon rate from lattice QCD
2017
We estimate the production rate of photons by the quark-gluon plasma in lattice QCD. We propose a new correlation function which provides better control over the systematic uncertainty in estimating the photon production rate at photon momenta in the range {\pi}T/2 to 2{\pi}T. The relevant Euclidean vector current correlation functions are computed with $N_{\mathrm f}$ = 2 Wilson clover fermions in the chirally-symmetric phase. In order to estimate the photon rate, an ill-posed problem for the vector-channel spectral function must be regularized. We use both a direct model for the spectral function and a model-independent estimate from the Backus-Gilbert method to give an estimate for the p…
Quantum electrodynamics for vector mesons
2005
Quantum electrodynamics for $\rho$ mesons is considered. It is shown that, at tree level, the value of the gyromagnetic ratio of the $\rho^+$ is fixed to 2 in a self-consistent effective quantum field theory. Further, the mixing parameter of the photon and the neutral vector meson is equal to the ratio of electromagnetic and strong couplings, leading to the mass difference $M_{\rho^0}-M_{\rho^\pm}\sim 1 {\rm MeV}$ at tree order.
Electron Anomalous Magnetic Moment in Basis Light-Front Quantization Approach
2011
We apply the Basis Light-Front Quantization (BLFQ) approach to the Hamiltonian field theory of Quantum Electrodynamics (QED) in free space. We solve for the mass eigenstates corresponding to an electron interacting with a single photon in light-front gauge. Based on the resulting non-perturbative ground state light-front amplitude we evaluate the electron anomalous magnetic moment. The numerical results from extrapolating to the infinite basis limit reproduce the perturbative Schwinger result with relative deviation less than 0.6%. We report significant improvements over previous works including the development of analytic methods for evaluating the vertex matrix elements of QED.
On the radiative decay of orthoquarkonium via two intermediate gluons: 1−− (Q $$\bar Q$$ ) → γ+1++ (q $$\bar q$$ )
1983
We investigate the decay of a heavy3S1 (Q\(\bar Q\) vector meson into a real photon and two off-shell intermediate gluons which create a3P1(q\(\bar q\)) axial vector meson. As an application we suggest to look for the decayJ/ϕ→ψ+D(1285) andΥ→γ1+P c /χ1++→γ1→γ2+J/ψ.
