Observation of a New Narrow Axial-Vector Mesona1(1420)
2015
The COMPASS Collaboration at CERN has measured diffractive dissociation of 190 GeV/c pions into the π(-)π(-)π(+) final state using a stationary hydrogen target. A partial-wave analysis (PWA) was performed in bins of 3π mass and four-momentum transfer using the isobar model and the so far largest PWA model consisting of 88 waves. A narrow peak is observed in the f0(980)π channel with spin, parity and C-parity quantum numbers J(PC)=1(++). We present a resonance-model study of a subset of the spin-density matrix selecting 3π states with J(PC)=2(++) and 4(++) decaying into ρ(770)π and with J(PC)=1(++) decaying into f0(980)π. We identify a new a1 meson with mass (1414(-13)(+15)) MeV/c2 and wid…
QCD condensates from tau-decay data: A functional approach
2004
We study a functional method to extract the V − A condensate of dimension 6 from a comparison of τ -decay data with the asymptotic space-like QCD prediction. Our result is in agreement within errors with that from conventional analyses based on finite energy sum rules.
First measurement of coherent ρ0 photoproduction in ultra-peripheral Xe–Xe collisions at sNN=5.44 TeV
2021
Abstract The first measurement of the coherent photoproduction of ρ 0 vector mesons in ultra-peripheral Xe–Xe collisions at s NN = 5.44 TeV is presented. This result, together with previous HERA γp data and γ–Pb measurements from ALICE, describes the atomic number (A) dependence of this process, which is particularly sensitive to nuclear shadowing effects and to the approach to the black-disc limit of QCD at a semi-hard scale. The cross section of the Xe + Xe → ρ 0 + Xe + Xe process, measured at midrapidity through the decay channel ρ 0 → π + π − , is found to be d σ / d y = 131.5 ± 5.6 ( stat . ) − 16.9 + 17.5 ( syst . ) mb. The ratio of the continuum to resonant contributions for the prod…
QCD condensates of dimension D=6 and D=8 from hadronic τ-decays
2007
Abstract The high-precision data from hadronic τ decays allows one to extract information on QCD condensates. Using the finalized ALEPH data, we obtain a more rigorous determination of the dimension 6 and 8 condensates for the ( V − A ) correlator. In particular, we find that the recent data fix a certain linear combination of these QCD condensates to a precision at the level of O(2)%. Our approach relies on more general assumptions than alternative approaches based on finite energy sum rules.
AN OPERATOR PRODUCT EXPANSION ANALYSIS OF e+e-ANNIHILATION DATA
2013
Perturbative Quantum Chromodynamics combined with the operator product expansion is expected to provide a framework for the description of phenomena in hadron interactions including contributions of nonperturbative origin. Applied to the correlator of two electromagnetic currents, this framework can be confronted with e+e-annihilation into hadrons. Data from the total hadronic e+e-cross-section have become much more precise in recent years and the power corrections in the operator product expansion, i.e. the vacuum condensates are expected to be determined with higher precision than previously. We present an analysis of the condensates of dimensions d = 2, 4 and 6 and find reasonably stable…
Nature of the axial-vector mesons from their N-c behavior within the chiral unitary approach
2008
By describing within the chiral unitary approach the g-wave interaction of the vector meson nonet with the octet of pseudoscalar Goldstone bosons, we find that the main component of the axial-vector mesons -b(1)(1235), h(1)(1170), h(1)(1380), a(1)(1260), f(1)(1285) and the two states associated to the K-1(1270)- does not follow the QCD dependence on the number of colors for ordinary q (q) over bar mesons.
Measurement of Z/γ∗+jet+X angular distributions in pp¯ collisions at s=1.96 TeV
2010
We present the first measurements at a hadron collider of differential cross sections for Z+jet+X production in delta phi(Z, jet), |delta y(Z, jet)| and |y_boost(Z, jet)|. Vector boson production in association with jets is an excellent probe of QCD and constitutes the main background to many small cross section processes, such as associated Higgs production. These measurements are crucial tests of the predictions of perturbative QCD and current event generators, which have varied success in describing the data. Using these measurements as inputs in tuning event generators will increase the experimental sensitivity to rare signals.
Combined relativistic and static analysis for all DB = 2 operators
2001
We analyse matrix elements of Delta B=2 operators by combining QCD results with the ones obtained in the static limit of HQET. The matching of all the QCD operators to HQET is made at NLO order. To do that we have to include the anomalous dimension matrix up to two loops, both in QCD and HQET, and the one loop matching for all the Delta B=2 operators. The matrix elements of these operators are relevant for the prediction of the B-\bar B mixing, B_s meson width difference and supersymmetric effects in Delta B=2 transitions.
Gluonic effects in vector meson photoproduction at large momentum transfers
2001
Non-perturbative QCD mechanisms are of fundamental importance in strong interaction physics. In particular, the flavor singlet axial anomaly leads to a gluonic pole mechanism which has been shown to explain the $\eta^{\prime}$ mass, violations of the OZI rule and more recently the proton spin. We show here that the interaction derived from the gluonic pole exchange explains the high momentum transfer behavior of the photoproduction cross sections of vector mesons at JLab energies.
