Multimodal biometric recognition systems using deep learning based on the finger vein and finger knuckle print fusion

Recognition systems using multimodal biometrics attracts attention because they improve recognition efficiency and high-security level compared to the unimodal biometrics system. In this study, the authors present a secure multimodal biometrics recognition system based on the deep learning method that uses convolutional neural networks (CNNs). The authors propose two multimodal architectures using the finger knuckle print (FKP) and the finger vein (FV) biometrics with different levels of fusion: the features level fusion and scores level fusion. Image Segmentation by Deep Community Detection Approach

International audience; To address the problem of segmenting an image into homogeneous communities this paper proposes an efficient algorithm to detect deep communities in the image by maximizing at each stage a new centrality measure, called the local Fiedler vector centrality (LFVC). This measure is associated with the sensitivity of algebraic connectivity to node removals. We show that a greedy node removal strategy, based on iterative maximization of LFVC, has bounded performance loss relative to the optimal, but intractable, combinatorial batch removal strategy. X-ray Absorption Study of Gallium Arsenide at the Ga and As K-edges

We present X-ray absorption study of gallium arsenide at the Ga and As K-edges. The analysis of the X-ray absorption fine structure was done in the framework of the multiple-scattering theory. Both XANES and EXAFS regions are considered. The calculated signals are in very good agreement with experimental data. It is shown that for both edges multiple-scattering contributions are negligible for wavevector values greater than 3 Å-1, and single-scattering analysis can be used without significant loss of accuracy in that region.

Analysis of an interferometric optical fibre detection technique applied to silicon vibrating sensors

A simple and accurate analysis of a single-mode optical fibre interferometric displacement detection technique is resented. This analysis is in good agreement with experimental measurements, and shows that angular alignment between the fibre and the sensor is the most critical parameter.

Abstract Rodent plagues cause a major problem for agriculture in many temperate regions, and immunocontraception offers a new method to control fertility in these and other pest vertebrates. Objective In a mouse model of type I allergy, we analyzed the ability of biolistic transfection to inhibit antigen-specific IgE production and to modulate T H 2 responses. Cell surface display of rat invariant γ chain: detection by monoclonal antibodies directed against a C-terminal γ chain segment

A series of 14 monoclonal antibodies (mAb) directed against the C-terminal part of the rat invariant gamma chain (amino acid 142-216) was generated using distinct fusion proteins that contain this gamma segment for immunization and hybridoma screening. Additional fusion protein were prepared carrying discrete regions of the gamma chain. Employing these reagents confirmed that the obtained mAb do indeed recognize the C-terminal portion of the invariant chain, as demonstrated by Western blot analysis. Continuous spectrum for a two phase eigenvalue problem with an indefinite and unbounded potential

Abstract We consider a two phase eigenvalue problem driven by the ( p , q ) -Laplacian plus an indefinite and unbounded potential, and Robin boundary condition. Using a modification of the Nehari manifold method, we show that there exists a nontrivial open interval I ⊆ R such that every λ ∈ I is an eigenvalue with positive eigenfunctions. When we impose additional regularity conditions on the potential function and the boundary coefficient, we show that we have smooth eigenfunctions.

Mutual inductance of thick coils for arbitrary relative orientation and position

An exact solution method has been developed recently which gives the mutual inductance of two thin cylindrical coils in terms of line integrals of a new kind of vector potential, induced by the primary coil, around the two circular edges of the secondary coil. This paper describes the extension of this method to thick coils, by wrapping two radial integrations around these line integrals. Results are presented for two pairs of conventional coils and a combination of a superconducting coil and a Bitter coil. Excellent agreement with existing results for non coaxial coils was obtained. The trade-off between accuracy and computing time is also examined.
