The reaction product of nitric oxide and superoxide, peroxynitrite, is a potent biological oxidant. The most important oxidative protein modifications described for peroxynitrite are cysteine-thiol oxidation and tyrosine nitration. We have previously demonstrated that intrinsic heme-thiolate (P450)-dependent enzymatic catalysis increases the nitration of tyrosine 430 in prostacyclin synthase and results in loss of activity which contributes to endothelial dysfunction. We here report the sensitive peroxynitrite-dependent nitration of an over-expressed and partially purified human prostacyclin synthase (3.3 μM) with an EC50 value of 5 μM. QCD NLO with Powheg matching and top threshold matching in WHIZARD

We present the status of the automation of NLO processes within the event generator WHIZARD. The program provides an automated FKS subtraction and phase space integration over the FKS regions, while the (QCD) NLO matrix element is accessed via the Binoth Les Houches Interface from an externally linked one-loop program. Massless and massive test cases and validation are shown for several e+e- processes. Furthermore, we discuss work in progress and future plans. Free-floating thrombus in the right ventricle, associated with a massive acute pulmonary embolism (PE), is a rare phenomenon. PE is an important clinical entity with considerable mortality despite advances in diagnosis and treatment. The prognosis of PE depends on right ventricular dysfunction, myocardial injury markers, and early treatment. In this report, we present the case of a 71-year-old woman with a history of breast cancer admitted to intensive care unit for PE complicated by syncope. El conocer la percepción y el posicionamiento sobre el uso de las TIC´s en relación a la violencia de género del alumnado de 1º del Grado de Trabajo Social de la Universidad de Valencia nos impulsa a iniciar esta investigación de tipo exploratorio, basada en un paradigma interpretativo donde se pretende realizar un estudio longitudinal para poder percibir si existen o no cambios de percepciones y actitudes en este alumnado al finalizar sus estudios. Oppimistulosten arviointiin venäjän kielessä osallistuneiden koulujen välillä oli suuria eroja tieto- ja viestintätekniikan käytössä, autenttisen materiaalin hyödyntämisessä sekä tieto- ja viestintätekniikan soveltamisessa. TVT:n hyödyntäminen venäjän kielen opetuksessa oli vähäistä kuten myös autenttisten venäjänkielisten elokuvien, laulujen ja lehtien käyttö. Suomenkielisten oppilaiden suullinen kielenkäyttö ja venäjänkielisen median seuraaminen olivat harvinaisia sekä venäjän kielen harrastus koulun ulkopuolella vähäistä (Hildén & Rautopuro, 2014). Teaching and learning to read in Afrikaans : teacher competence and computer-assisted support

This thesis is in the form of a monograph consisting of three distinct, but related studies. The three studies examined Grade 1 teachers’ knowledge and perceptions of reading instruction in classrooms in Namibia; and the use of GraphoGame in Afrikaans as a digital learning tool and as an intervention tool for struggling readers. Three data sets were collected: teachers (N = 132), children (N = 202) and struggling readers (N = 19). The results offered three main findings. First, the results revealed that teachers lacked basic knowledge regarding language and reading instruction. Biological invasions are recognized as a significant evolutionary factor over short time scales. In particular, their effect is well recorded on the genetic structure of populations, the patterns of phenotypic evolution and the richness of parasite fauna associated to invasive populations. In the last decades, the Italian University System has encountered several structural reforms aimed at making it more internationally competitive. Among them, the introduction of the University financial autonomy has triggered an “internal” competition among Universities to attract students from the entire country. Students’ enrollment at the first level has decreased significantly especially after the economic crisis of 2008, while the students’ migration from the South to the Central and Northern regions of the country has increased.
