Maģistra darba „Modālu un fāzes verbu kombinācijas konstrukcijās ar nenoteiksmi” mērķis ir apskatīt iespējamās kombinācijas, kas sastata izteicējā veidojas, modālajiem verbiem vajadzēt, gribēt un varēt kombinējoties ar citiem modālajiem verbiem un fāzes verbiem konstrukcijās ar nenoteiksmi. Līdz šim latviešu valodniecībā skatīta atsevišķu modālo verbu semantika, bet nav pētītas modālo verbu kombinācijas. Maģistra darbu veido 4 nodaļas, kurās apskatīta modalitātes teorija, verbu, t. sk. modālo un fāzes verbu, lietojums palīgnozīmē. Type of Delivery, Neuropsychological Development and Intelligence in Twin Births

Based on a retrospective cohort design with six-year-old children born in twin births, the relationship between verbal, non-verbal, global neuropsychological development, general intelligence and type of delivery has been studied. To this end, the possible effect of third gestational, obstetric and neonatal variables, such as maternal age at delivery, fetal presentation, gestational age, newborn weight and Apgar at minute one, was controlled. Modālo darbības vārdu un tiem pielīdzināmo vārdu un frāžū lietojums laikrasta rakstos var atklāt rakstnieka attieksmi un viedokli pret paziņotiem faktiem. Šī bakalaura darba mērķis ir analizēt modālo darbības vārduun tiem pielīdzināmo vārdu un frāžū lietojumu laikrakstā „The Guardian”. Metode, kas tika izmantota darbā ir kvantitatīvā un kvalitatīvā analīze. Praktiskā daļa ir balstīta uz 15 rakstu analīzi, kas bija ņemti no laikraksta “The Guardian”. Rezultāti parādīja, ka modālie darbības vārdi, kā arī citi pielīdznināmie vārdi, tiek bieži izmantoti, un tiem irdažādas nozīmes tekstā. Quantifying the impact of mechanical layering and underthrusting on the dynamics of the modern India-Asia collisional system with 3-D numerical models

The impact of mechanical layering and the strength of the Indian lower crust on the dynamics of the modern India-Asia collisional system are studied using 3-D thermomechanical modeling. The model includes an Indian oceanic domain, Indian continental domain, and an Asian continental domain. Each domain consists of four layers: upper/lower crust, and upper/lower lithospheric mantle. The Tarim and Sichuan Basins are modeled as effectively rigid blocks and the Quetta-Chaman and Sagaing strike-slip faults as vertical weak zones. However, the potential of hydrofractures and clastic injections in the reconstruction of ice dynamics remains poorly constrained. 3D Numerical Modelling of Salt Tectonics

Summary Many factors have been suggested to affect the development of salt structures, including sedimentation, brittle sediment deformation, multiple tectonic events and basement topography. To unravel the relative importance of these processes, we performed high resolution 2D and 3D thermo-mechanical simulations that take these factors into account, while incorporating nonlinear salt creep laws and visco-elasto-plastic rock properties. Simulations show that the sedimentation rate affects both the speed with which structures form, and the spacing between the salt structures, which is larger for higher rates. Abstract The Bohemian Massif in the Central European Variscides contains many crustal slices with (ultra-)high-pressure rocks related to continent-continent collision. After closure of pre-existing oceans during the Devonian, excess crustal thickness was maintained for about 50 Ma until at around 340 Ma large volumes of high-pressure rocks from the crustal root were exhumed within a few million years. We relate this event to delamination and complete detachment of the lithospheric mantle, causing a crustal-scale isostatic instability. Šis diplomdarbs uzrakstīts pēc vairāku praktisku latviešu valodas kursu novadīšanas. Pirms šiem kursiem tika sarakstītas vairāki latviešu valodas mācību līdzekļi, kas tika tulkoti vairākās valodās. Vairākas latviešu valodas parādības šajos mācību līdzekļos aplūkotas tā, ka daudziem latviešu valodas skolotājiem tas var šķist neparasti, tomēr mērķis ir bijis viens – vadīt kursus tā, lai valodas apguvējiem būtu ērti un viegli apgūt un nejaukt daudzās latviešu lietvārdu deklināciju galotnes, kā arī runā un rakstos aktīvi pareizi lietot daudzo dažādo tipu verbus. Valodas materiāla analīze galvenokārt balstās dažādu korpusu (latviešu, lietuviešu, angļu) pētījumos un tekstu interpretācijā (latviešu un gruzīnu valodas diahroniskā aprakstā). This volume covers 15 articles on different synchronic and diachronic issues in grammar and language acquisition. The research is mainly corpus- based (using various Latvian, Lithuanian, English corpora) and text-driven (the history of Latvian, Latin, and Georgian).
