GAMLSS for high-variability data: an application to liver fibrosis case

In this paper, we propose management of the problem caused by overdispersed data by applying the generalized additive model for location, scale and shape framework (GAMLSS) as introduced by Rigby and Stasinopoulos (2005). The idea of using a GAMLSS approach for handling our problem comes from the idea of Aitkin (1996) consisting in the use of an EM maximum likelihood estimation algorithm (Dempster, Laird, and Rubin, 1977) to deal with overdispersed generalized linear models (GLM). Green areas are open spaces holding an unexpected kind of local biodiversity within the city, linked to species and habitats frequently found in human settlements. Green roofs can be an important means for environmental mitigation and, if designed according to the principles of restoration ecology, can improve the thermodynamic performance / hydraulic system and at the same time encouraging the development of urban biodiversity. With this work, we propose a methodology approach for green roofs in Mediterranean areas, that integrate aesthetic values with the functional traits of native species, in order to make green roofs “local tanks of biodiversity”.
Fluorescence Properties of the Chromophore-Binding Domain of Bacteriophytochrome from Deinococcus radiodurans

Fluorescent proteins are versatile tools for molecular imaging. In this study, we report a detailed analysis of the absorption and fluorescence properties of the chromophore-binding domain from Deinococcus radiodurans and its D207H mutant. Using single photon counting and transient absorption techniques, the average excited state lifetime of both studied systems was about 370 ps. The D207H mutation slightly changed the excited state decay profile but did not have a considerable effect on the average decay time of the system or the shape of the absorption and emission spectra of the biliverdin chromophore. A través de la actividad que se produjo en el Teatro Principal de Valencia, examinamos toda la labor operística que hubo en esta ciudad, ya que fue el único lugar donde se representó ópera en Valencia. Resumen: En este trabajo publica por primera vez la sentencia de un concurso poetico medieval celebrado en la iglesia Barcelonesa de Sant Just en junio de 1438. El tema elegido para la ocasion fue el maldecir de Amor y la joya fue ofrecida por Bartomeu Castello. Sabemos que a el concurrieron Guillem y Joan Berenguer de Masdovelles. [EN] A classification methodology based on an experimental study is proposed towards a fast pre-diagnosis of attention deficit. Our sample consisted of school-aged children between 8 and 12 years from Valencia, Spain. The study was based on the response time (RT) to visual stimuli in computerized tasks. The process of answering consecutive questions usually follows an ex-Gaussian distribution of the RTs. Count data are commonly assumed to have a Poisson distribution, especially when there is no diagnostic procedure for checking this assumption. However, count data rarely fit the restrictive assumptions of the Poisson distribution. The violation of much of such assumptions commonly results in overdispersion, which invalidates the Poisson distribution. Undetected overdispersion may entail important misleading inferences, so its detection is essential. El elevado número de funciones y de coliseos de la capital del Turia que representaban óperas en sus proscenios así lo atestiguan.
