Brancati su Pirandello e il pirandellismo

2019

In the short novel "Sogno di un valzer" published on "Quadrivio" from 5 June to 14 August 1938 Vitaliano Brancati enacts between observation of places and survey of customs a world beyond measure constantly hovering between reality and dream. In Caltanissetta (Nissa) the city in which the writer is the magistral institute turned his back on fascist Rome he came to teach unobtrusive insignificant characters who nevertheless covet desires racking their brains in metaphysical questions. Thus the leitmotiv of the critics of pirandellism takes shape which often with subtle irony emerges in the Brancatian writings. The essay shows how it intertwines with the sulphurous comedy of the writer of Don Giovanni in Sicilia who tracing a particular topography of the island supported by inner relief leads his analysis of eccentric behaviors and of the aberrations of the mind in which the trivialized Pirandellian thought ends to become an explosive element.

Modulation of acute and chronic inflammatory processes by cacospongionolide B, a novel inhibitor of human synovial phospholipase A2.

1999

1. Cacospongionolide B is a novel marine metabolite isolated from the sponge Fasciospongia cavernosa. In in vitro studies, this compound inhibited phospholipase A2 (PLA2), showing selectivity for secretory PLA2 (sPLA2) versus cytosolic PLA2 (cPLA2), and its potency on the human synovial enzyme (group II) was similar to that of manoalide. 2. This activity was confirmed in vivo in the 8 h zymosan-injected rat air pouch, on the secretory enzyme accumulating in the pouch exudate. Cacospongionolide B, that is bioavailable when is given orally, reduced the elevated levels of sPLA2 present in paw homogenates of rats with adjuvant arthritis. 3. This marine metabolite showed topical anti-inflammator…

IL-9 IN PsA

2016

Objective. To investigate the expression and tis- sue distribution of Th9-related cytokines in patients with psoriatic arthritis (PsA). Methods. Quantitative gene expression analysis of Th1, Th17, and Th9 cytokines was performed in intestinal biopsy samples obtained from patients with PsA, HLA2B272positive patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS), patients with Crohn’s disease (CD), and healthy controls. Expression and tissue distribu- tion of interleukin-23 (IL-23), IL-17, IL-22, IL-9, and IL-9 receptor (IL-9R) were evaluated by immunohisto- chemistry and confocal microscopy. Flow cytometry was used to study the frequency of Th9 cells among periph- eral blood, lamina propria, and synovial…

Simple Facts Concerning Nambu Algebras

1998

A class of substitution equations arising in the extension of Jacobi identity for $n$-gebras is studied and solved. Graded bracket and cohomology adapted to the study of formal deformations are presented. New identities in the case of Nambu-Lie algebras are proved. The triviality in the Gerstenhaber sense of certain deformed n-skew-symmetric brackets, satisfying the Leibniz rule with respect to a star-product, is shown for n≥ 3.

PML down-regulation in soft tissue sarcomas

2010

To date, little is known concerning the promyelocytic leukemia gene (PML) status in tumors of different origin, and its expression has never been evaluated in soft tissue sarcoma. The aim of the present study is focused on the identification of differences in terms of PML protein expression between different types of soft tissue sarcoma and the corresponding normal surrounding tissue. PML protein expression has been assessed by immunohistochemistry in six different histologic types of soft tissue sarcoma (synovial sarcoma, myofibroblastic sarcoma, angiosarcoma, liposarcoma, pleomorphic sarcoma, and leiomyosarcoma) and in the corresponding normal surrounding tissue. PML resulted significantl…

The synovial joints of the human foot.

2007

The human foot is considered an organ with an assortment of tissues with different morphological characteristics and well defined limits, but effectively has a simple functionality when static that becomes extremely complex when in movement. Its complex structure, comprised of an elastic and resistant skin covering a bone framework, joints, muscles, tendons, veins and nerves, can be compared to an efficient mechanical assembly. After a long and extraordinary evolutive journey, the human foot has undergone numerous changes to perfect its function; it has lost most of its grabbing function whilst gaining new characteristics that have ultimately allowed the modern man to stand upright. The com…

Climatic and anthropogenic influences on three burgundian watercourses : geoarchaelogy of crossing sites on Loire, Saône and Doubs during the Holocene

2015

A geoarchaeological study was led on four sections of the valleys of the Loire, Saône and Doubs rivers (Burgundy, France) in order to point out the factors influencing the alluvial dynamics on a multimillennial scale, and their effects on the preservation of archaeological information. Investigations started by roman and medieval remains of bridges discovered in active channels, were then carried out on larger parts of alluvial plains, and altogether allowed the evolutions of the channels during the Holocene period to be deducted. Various types of information on alluvial characteristics were crossed through time and space: ancient maps and XXth century or aerial photographs for centennial s…
