Medinilla magnifica Lindl., Mandevilla splendens (Hook.) Woodson, the hybrid Mandevilla × amoena ‘Alice du Pont’ (pink allamanda), and various species of Allamanda, such as A. cathartica L. and A. blanchetii A. DC. (purple allamanda), are grown in Sicily as ornamentals. After a frost in early December 2001, a sudden wilt of container-grown cuttings of these tropical species was observed in a plastic-covered production greenhouse, with ≈30% of M. magnifica plants and 70% of Mandevilla and Allamanda plants affected. Le diagnostic archéologique réalisé en amont de l'extension de la plateforme Delta 3 a permis de compléter et d'approfondir les connaissances concernant le territoire de Dourges. Les vestiges mis au jour couvrent plusieurs millénaires et concernent les périodes protohistoriques (âge du Bronze et Hallstatt) et historiques (de l'Antiquité jusqu'à l'époque moderne). Pour les périodes protohistoriques, il s'agit d'éléments épars qui ne semblent pas constituer à proprement parler un site. The paper reports the results of the archaeological excavations carried out between 2000 and 2007 in the Early Christian cemetery of Villagrazia di Carini. Four periods were recognized in stratigraphy, from late antiquity to the mid-twentieth century. The sepulchral typologies are arcosolia, loculi, "tombe a mensa" and "formae". The cemetery was used by the Christian community of the ancient diocese of Hykkara from the 4th to at least the 7th century A.D.

The archaeological research in the southeastern area of the Early Christian catacombs of Villagrazia di Carini has been ongoing since 2000 to the present, but in 2014 the structural problems occurred during the excavation of the cubicles X13 and X15 have showed that this sector of the cemetery was cut into a tuff stone bench less compact and durable than the rest of the catacomb. Similarly, the excavation in the corridor XII has provided new informations about the serious effects of the physico-chemical changes that occurred here, over the centuries, by the action of the environmental factors and the continued infiltrations of water from the above ground. This article discusses the role of documentation and rescue planning in minimizing collection damages in disaster situations. The topic is surveyed through a case study of a fire that occurred in 2003 at the Valvilla Wool Mill museum in Hyvinkää, in Southern Finland. This incident caused significant damage to the authenticity and integrity of the museum’s archival collection. Both the fire and the extinguishing of the fire caused severe damage to items in the archival collection.
