This chapter examines the transformation of the roles of women in Italian organized crime groups. Starting from a comparative analysis of the way in which – over time – the different manifestations of female power and male domination in certain organized crime groups (Cosa Nostra and others) have changed, we seek to understand what female power is in these contexts and what are the circumstances which make it legitimate and visible, what are the different modalities in which it expresses itself over time, in different locations and criminal contexts. L’articolo descrive i risultati di una ricerca qualitativa, finanziata dalla Comunità Europea, finalizzata a conoscere il grado di riconoscimento della violenza di prossimità di cui sono vittima i rifugiati/richiedenti asilo da parte degli operatori che lavorano nel circuito dell’accoglienza nei CAS e negli SPRAR siciliani. La ricerca ha previsto la conduzione di 78 interviste a stakeholders. This research proposes to explore the nexus between “denied memory” or “wounded memory” and gender violence normalized in a symbolic level of production of meaning. For this respect, the following points will be analyzed: a) the perception of violence in intimate relationships of second generations post-conflict ; b) the impact of the “memory of war” on “cultural perception of violence” among generations of younger, adults and elder and between women and men of same generation.
