Tā kā mūsdienu sabiedrībā vardarbība ir nopietna sociāla problēma, tās atspoguļojums ziņās ir svarīgs. Cilvēki vēršas pie ziņām, meklējot jaunu informāciju, un viņu viedoklis bieži veidojas ziņu iespaidā, tādējādi tas, kā vardarbīgas darbības tajās tiek aprakstītas, ietekmē sabiedrības izpratni par vardarbību. Assessing violence in the family : social work, courts, and discourses

This article investigates social work, decision-making, and gendered violence in the family in Finland. Discourses on gendered violence in the family are compared in custody disputes, handled in district courts, and out-of-home placements, dealt with in administrative courts. Both data sets altogether include 237 cases. Proceedings in both courts share a legislative emphasis on the ‘child’s best interest’ principle, and both contexts also rely on documentation provided by social workers. Tämä tutkimus tarkastelee lähisuhteissaan väkivaltaisten miesten käsityksiä seksistä heteroseksuaalisen, monogamisen parisuhteen kontekstissa. Huomio kiinnittyi seksille annettuihin merkityksiin, väkivallan ja seksin erottamiseen tai yhdistämiseen sekä seksin sukupuolittamisen tapoihin hoitoryhmissä käydyissä keskusteluissa. Resumen El objetivo de este estudio fue analizar posibles diferencias en satisfacción con la vida, ánimo depresivo, autoconcepto y comunicación familiar entre adolescentes no implicados en violencia de pareja, agresores, víctimas, implicados en el rol de agresor-víctima de forma ocasional e implicados en este rol frecuentemente. Participaron 672 adolescentes españoles (325 chicas, 347 chicos), entre 12 y 19 años (M = 14.45; DT = 1.62). This chapter investigates the institutional and affective practices of domestic violence (DV) interventions in Finnish social work. It examines the expression of social workers’ emotions related to intervening in DV and how these expressions result in the positioning of clients. Encountering and intervening in DV is often challenging; ideological presumptions, conceptions, gender-neutral discussions and misrecognition of violence affect institutional arrangements and practices, and the ways in which professionals feel about and respond to violence. This article explores the philosophical and psychoanalytic trajectories of conceptualizing the Covid-19 pandemic as ‘collective trauma’, and considers what would be the risks, but also productive possibilities, of such a theoretical move. the context of this inquiry is the so-called ‘shadow pandemic’ – the drastic increase in domestic violence globally, which accompanied introduction of lockdowns as a measure of containing the impact of Covid-19 on public health infrastructures.
