Il presente contributo rientra nell’ambito di in una più vasta linea di ricerca denominata “Progetto Hierapolis Virtuale”, sviluppata a partire dal 2007 e finalizzata alla ricostruzione tridimensionale degli edifici della città. The essay concerns the recent work carried out as part of a multidisciplinary research on some rocky churches in the southern Apulia, conducted in collaboration with the Chair of History of Medieval Art of the University of Salento and of the University of Bari. The work aims at the knowledge and the monitoring of the fresco paintings inside three rocky environments, two of which are located in Lama d’Antico, in Fasano (BR), and the other two in Vaste di Poggiardo and Giurdignano (LE). A quantitative assessment of intraspecific morphological variation in Gahagan bifaces from the southern Caddo area and central Texas

This investigation aggregates intact or reconstructed Gahagan bifaces from the southern Caddo area and central Texas to test the hypothesis that Gahagan biface morphology differs between the regions. The Gahagan bifaces (n = 102) were scanned, then analysed using a novel landmarking protocol and the tools of geometric morphometrics. Results provide a preview of the significant differences in Gahagan biface morphology expressed between the southern Caddo area and central Texas regions. The size discrepancy represents an inversion of current theoretical constructs that posit a decrease in tool size thought to articulate with an increase in distance from the raw material source.
