Mean shift clustering for personal photo album organization

In this paper we propose a probabilistic approach for the automatic organization of pictures in personal photo album. Images are analyzed in term of faces and low-level visual features of the background. The description of the background is based on RGB color histogram and on Gabor filter energy accounting for texture information. The face descriptor is obtained by projection of detected and rectified faces on a common low dimensional eigenspace. Quantification and visualization of finite strain in 3D viscous numerical models of folding and overthrusting

Abstract Finite strain analysis and three-dimensional (3D) numerical modeling are important methods to understand the deformation history of rocks. Here, we analyze finite strain in 3D numerical simulations of power-law viscous folding and overthrusting. Simulations with different and laterally varying detachment geometries cause a lateral transition from folding (for thicker detachments) to overthrusting. We compute the 3D finite strain tensor, the principal strain values and their orientations. This paper introduces and evaluates BioLab, a tool for teaching biosignal processing. BioLab has been used in the biomedical engineering module that is given in the second semester of the fifth year of the electronic engineering degree at the University of Valencia, Spain. This module and its correspondent curricular pathway are also reviewed. BioLab allows the results obtained with digital processing techniques to be shown interactively in the theory classes, and it also provides support in laboratory sessions. A metrics suite for evaluating agent-oriented architectures

The Multi-agent Systems (MASs) paradigm continues to consolidate itself as a new branch of software engineering. Traditional software engineering strongly recommends to apply metrics in software developments. However, several research groups of experts in agent-oriented software engineering agree that classical software metrics and object-oriented metrics cannot directly measure the quality of MAS architectures.
