In 1971, upon the initiative of the United Polish Workers’ Party – the ruling force in the period of the Polish People’s Republic – there was established secondary technical school designed for leading workers. The Resolution No. 124 of the Council of Ministers of 1 July 1971 opened the possibility for workers to gain vocational qualifications and to obtain the certificate of secondary education after two years of studying. Instructors' Competence for Enhancing Quality of In-House Training in Maritime Education

<p class="IATED-Affiliation">Improving instructors’ competence will enhance quality of maritime in-house training (IHT). The research question of this study was: what are the main features of a competent IHT instructor? A mixed-method study using interviews and a questionnaire was conducted among three groups of respondents: 1) safety managers, vetting and technical managers; 2) IHT instructors, and 3) seafarers (including masters, chief engineers, officers and ratings). Professionals of the field were involved in interpretation of results and in elaboration of the recommendations for enhancing quality of IHT.</p><p class="normal"> </p>

The study explores factors that motivate high- performance athletes to manage their dual career while studying in secondary school. The dual career experience of Latvian youth is obtained. The paper analyses the results from young high- performance athletes’ questionnaire, focusing on the support young athletes receive and would need to receive in their education and sports training process. Diverse histories, common ground and a shared future:the education of career guidance and counselling professionals in the Nordic countries

The development of education programmes in career guidance and counseling (CGC) has followed different paths among the various Nordic countries. Ten CGC programmes in Denmark, Finland, Greenland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden were evaluated against the NICE curricular model. The results show that all NICE core competences are represented in the curricula. However, there is greater focus in some programmes on developing competences for individual career guidance, than on developing competences for working at organisational and societal levels. In this chapter, we describe the processes and curricula of initial education of VET teachers and trainers, its features and requirements, describing the differences between formal VET teachers and non-formal vocational trainers. We introduce the initial education required to become formal VET teachers and non-formal vocational trainers in the past three decades in Spain, with particular attention to their technical and pedagogical background.
