Weighted-Average Least Squares (WALS): Confidence and Prediction Intervals
2022
We extend the results of De Luca et al. (2021) to inference for linear regression models based on weighted-average least squares (WALS), a frequentist model averaging approach with a Bayesian flavor. We concentrate on inference about a single focus parameter, interpreted as the causal effect of a policy or intervention, in the presence of a potentially large number of auxiliary parameters representing the nuisance component of the model. In our Monte Carlo simulations we compare the performance of WALS with that of several competing estimators, including the unrestricted least-squares estimator (with all auxiliary regressors) and the restricted least-squares estimator (with no auxiliary reg…
Multiple-Output Walsh Function Generation for Minimum Orthogonality Error
1978
A hazard-free multiple-output Walsh function generator is presented which requires a minimum amount of hardware and is as fast as the integrated logic family employed for the implementation. However, the main characteristic of the instrument is the optimum performance from the viewpoint of the orthogonality of the function generated, as it is shown by the experimental verifications reported.
Improved Switching Strategy for Selective Harmonic Elimination in DC-AC Signal Generation via Pulse-Width Modulation
2013
Published version of an article in the journal: Abstract and Applied Analysis. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/870904 Open Access We present an advanced design methodology for pulse-width-modulated (PWM) DC-AC signal generation. Using design methods based on the Walsh transform, AC sinusoidal signals can be approximated by suitable PWM signals. For different AC amplitudes, the switching instants of the PWM signals can be efficiently computed by using appropriate systems of explicit linear equations. However, the equation systems provided by conventional implementations of this approach are typically only valid for a restricted interval of AC amplitudes a…

Chrząszcze (Coleoptera) Suwalskiego Parku Krajobrazowego: monografia
2020
The beetles of the Suwalski Landscape Park (NE Poland) were studied between the years 2006−2013. The park covers an area of 6338 ha. Various field methods were used including sweep netting, dip netting, catching by hand, investigation of potential foraging sites of saproxylic beetles, rearing of cambio- and xylophagous larvae from inhabited material and attracting to artificial light sources. On the basis of our field studies and literature data, 1052 beetle species from 70 families were recorded, of which 715 have not been previously reported in the Park. One species – Variimorda briantea – is new to the Masurian Lake Region. The most numerous families were: rove beetles Staphylinidae (208…

Multidimensional P-adic Integrals in some Problems of Harmonic Analysis
2017
The paper is a survey of results related to the problem of recovering the coefficients of some classical orthogonal series from their sums by generalized Fourier formulas. The method is based on reducing the coefficient problem to the one of recovering a function from its derivative with respect to an appropriate derivation basis. In the case of the multiple Vilenkin system the problem is solved by using a multidimensional P-adic integral.
