Tietoturvan toteutus SD-WAN -operaattoripalveluissa
2017
Tutkielmassa selvitettiin vaihtoehtoja, joiden avulla palomuuraukseen liittyvä tekninen tietoturva voidaan toteuttaa uusissa SD-WAN -pohjaisissa verkottamisratkaisuissa ja niihin liittyvissä hybridiverkoissa operaattorin näkökulmasta. Palomuuraukseen liittyvää ratkaisua tulisi voida hyödyntää operaattorin asiakasverkoissa ja sen tulee skaalautua asiakkaiden käyttämien palveluiden mukaisesti. Tutkielmassa analysoitiin, kuinka SDN- ja NFV-teknologioita voidaan hyödyntää palomuurauksen toteutuksessa ja kannattaako palomuuraus toteuttaa SDN-pohjaisessa verkossa keskitetysti vai hajautetusti. Lisäksi pohdittiin, kuinka verkon hallinta voidaan toteuttaa keskitetysti, jotta jokaista verkon laitett…
Joint retirement behaviour and pension reform in the Netherlands
2022
We examine the effects of a major pension reform in 2015 on the joint retirement decisions of working couples in the Netherlands. The reform abolished the partner allowance, a state pension supplement for a nonworking partner below the state pension age. At the same time, actuarially generous early retirement arrangements were made less attractive. Using rich administrative data, we estimate a multivariate mixed proportional hazards model that distinguishes between several sources of joint retirement: financial incentives, other causal mecha-nisms that make retirement of one spouse more likely when the other spouse retires (e.g., due to complemen-tarities in leisure or social norms) and cor…

Evaluating Bluetooth Performance as the Support for Context-Aware Applications
2005
We present an experiment relative to the use of the Bluetooth wireless technology to provide network support for context-aware applications. We describe an approach to provide network interconnection using a combination of wireless and wired network technologies. We also describe the steps taken to create a Bluetooth based context-aware application. We, finally, evaluate, using a small test-bed and simulation the overall performance of this technology when adopted in the area of context-aware and ubiquitous computing.
Performance analysis of the out-of-band signaling scheme for high speed wireless LANs
2005
In this paper, we study the performance of our earlier proposed out-of-band signaling (OBS) scheme for high speed wireless local area networks (WLANs). We employ the system approximation technique for modeling of the OBS scheme. An equivalent state dependent single server queue, that describes the OBS scheme, is constructed for the analysis of the throughput and delay performances. Moreover, we study the throughput optimization of the OBS scheme, which provides a means for optimizing the performance of the OBS scheme, given a particular network environment. Finally, we conduct several simulation experiments to validate our analytical results.
Trepostomate bryozoans from the upper Katian (Upper Ordovician) of Morocco: gigantism in high latitude Gondwana platforms.
2015
AbstractA study of the Upper Ordovician trepostomate bryozoans belonging to the families Amplexoporidae and Monticuliporidae, from the eastern Anti-Atlas of Morocco, is presented here. They occur in the marly to fine-grained limestone, intermediate unit of the Khabt-el-Hajar Formation, late Katian in age, representing outer-ramp depositional environments. They inhabited the highest paleolatitude known for a bryozoan fauna during the Ordovician, estimated at more than 65–70ºS. A total of 11 species of the generaAnaphragma,Atactoporella,Homotrypa,Monotrypa,Monticulipora, andPrasoporaare described. Three species are already known from the equatorial-tropical paleocontinents of Baltica, Laurent…

Let R be a complete discrete valuation ring of mixed characteristic (0, p) with fraction field K. The stable reduction theorem affirms that given a smooth, projective, geometrically connected curve over K, C/K, with genus \geq 2, there exists a unique finite Galois extension M/K minimal for the inclusion relation such that C_{M}:= C x M has stable reduction over M. A such extension is called monodromy extension of C/K and the Galois group Gal(M/K) is called the monodromy group of C/K. In this paper, the authors study stable models of p-cyclic covers of P^1_K. At first, they work with covers of arbitrarily high genus having potential good reduction. In particular, they determine for such cov…
Isolation of Vibrio vulnificus Serovar E from Aquatic Habitats in Taiwan
1999
ABSTRACT The existence of strains of Vibrio vulnificus serovar E that are avirulent for eels is reported in this work. These isolates were recovered from water and oysters and differed from eel virulent strains in (i) fermentation and utilization of mannitol, (ii) ribotyping after Hin dIII digestion, and (iii) susceptibility to eel serum. Lipopolysaccharide of these strains lacked the highest molecular weight immunoreactive bands, which are probably involved in serum resistance.
Guarding net effects on landings and discards in Mediterranean trammel net fishery: Case analysis of Egadi Islands Marine Protected Area (Central Med…
2023
Discards remain among the main negative impacts of fishing activities, and their reductions are strengthened by the European Common Fisheries Policy (European Regulation 1380/2013). Trammel net fisheries appear more sustainable compared with other fishing techniques, especially from an ecological viewpoint. Despite this, reports show that trammel net fisheries deliver discard quantities between 10% and 43% of the total catch biomass. To supplement existing information, this current work attempts to address the discard reduction using guarding net in the small-scale fisheries of Egadi Islands MPA (Western Sicily, Central Mediterranean Sea). To assess the reduction of unwanted catches, 48 exp…
The influence of light attenuation on the biogeomorphology of a marine karst cave: A case study of Puerto Princesa Underground River, Palawan, the Ph…
2015
Karst caves are unique biogeomorphological systems. Cave walls offer habitat for microorganisms which in-turn have a geomorphological role via their involvement in rock weathering, erosion and mineralisation. The attenuation of light with distance into caves is known to affect ecology, but the implications of this for biogeomorphological processes and forms have seldom been examined. Here we describe a semi-quantitative microscopy study comparing the extent, structure, and thickness of biocover and depth of endolithic penetration for samples of rock from the Puerto Princesa Underground River system in Palawan, the Philippines, which is a natural UNESCO World Heritage Site.\ud \ud Organic gr…
