Equivalence of viscosity and weak solutions for a $p$-parabolic equation

AbstractWe study the relationship of viscosity and weak solutions to the equation $$\begin{aligned} \smash {\partial _{t}u-\varDelta _{p}u=f(Du)}, \end{aligned}$$ ∂ t u - Δ p u = f ( D u ) , where $$p>1$$ p > 1 and $$f\in C({\mathbb {R}}^{N})$$ f ∈ C ( R N ) satisfies suitable assumptions. Our main result is that bounded viscosity supersolutions coincide with bounded lower semicontinuous weak supersolutions. Moreover, we prove the lower semicontinuity of weak supersolutions when $$p\ge 2$$ p ≥ 2 .

In this paper atomic decomposition theorems of martingales are considered. In particular, three atomic decomposition theorems for Lorentz martingale spacesHs p,q, Qp,q andDp,q, where 0 < p < 1, and 0 < q 1, are proved. As a consequence of these decompositions, the authors obtain a sufficient condition for a sublinear operator T, defined on the previous Lorentz martingale spaces Hs p,q, Qp,q and Dp,q and taking values in Lorentz spaces Lr, to be bounded. Also, a restricted weak-type interpolation theorem is established.
Measurement of parity-violating spin asymmetries in W± production at midrapidity in longitudinally polarized p+p collisions

We present midrapidity measurements from the PHENIX experiment of large parity-violating singlespin asymmetries of high transverse momentum electrons and positrons from W =Z decays, produced in longitudinally polarized p þ p collisions at center of mass energies of ffiffi s p ¼ 500 and 510 GeV. These asymmetries allow direct access to the antiquark polarized parton distribution functions due to the parityviolating nature of the W-boson coupling to quarks and antiquarks. The results presented are based on data collected in 2011, 2012, and 2013 with an integrated luminosity of 240 pb−1, which exceeds previous PHENIX published results by a factor of more than 27. Ortho -Functionalized Aryltetrazines by Direct Palladium-Catalyzed C−H Halogenation: Application to Fast Electrophilic Fluorination Reactions

International audience; A general catalyzed direct C-H functionalization of s-tetrazines is reported. Under mild reaction conditions, N-directed ortho-C-H activation of tetrazines allows the introduction of various functional groups, thus forming carbon-heteroatom bonds: C-X (X=I, Br, Cl) and C-O. Based on this methodology, we developed electrophilic mono- and poly-ortho-fluorination of tetrazines. Microwave irradiation was optimized to afford fluorinated s-aryltetrazines, with satisfactory selectivity, within only ten minutes. Synthesis, Characterization, and Properties of Weakly Coordinating Anions Based on tris-Perfluoro-tert-Butoxyborane

Abstract Image A convenient method for the preparation of strongly Lewis acidic tris-perfluoro-tert-butoxyborane B(ORF)3 (1), (ORF = OC(CF3)3) was developed, and its X-ray structure was determined. 1 was used as a precursor, guided by density functional theory (DFT) calculations and volume-based thermodynamics, for the synthesis of [NEt4][NCB(ORF)3] (3) and [NMe4][FB(ORF)3] (5) and the novel large and weakly coordinating anion salts [Li 15-Crown-5][B(ORF)4] (2) and [NEt4][CN{B(ORF)3}2] (4). The stability of [B(ORF)4]− was compared with that of some related known weakly coordinating anions by appropriate DFT calculations. peerReviewed

The paper considers an optimal control problem of the typewhere the set M of admissible controls consists of all measurable vector‐functions h, which can take only two values h1 or h2. It is shown that the relaxation of this problem can be explicitly computed by rank‐one laminates.
Oscillatory periodic pattern dynamics in hyperbolic reaction-advection-diffusion models

In this work we consider a quite general class of two-species hyperbolic reaction-advection-diffusion system with the main aim of elucidating the role played by inertial effects in the dynamics of oscillatory periodic patterns. To this aim, first, we use linear stability analysis techniques to deduce the conditions under which wave (or oscillatory Turing) instability takes place. Then, we apply multiple-scale weakly nonlinear analysis to determine the equation which rules the spatiotemporal evolution of pattern amplitude close to criticality. The main goal of this paper is the examine the circumstances of the Kosovo battle in 1389. Fundamental difficulty in describing this battle results from the fact that there was no separate chronicler. Moreover, the description of the battle of Kosovo field is based only on fragmentary information transmitted by Serbian, Bosnian, Turkish or Byzantine chroniclers. The author of this article proposed a thesis that battle of Kosovo field contributed to development of both Ottoman and Serbian art of warfare. In 2002, excavations carried out by Marie-Cécile Truc (Inrap) at Saint-Dizier led to the discovery of four graves of exceptional wealth, containing a young woman, two men and a horse, dated to c. 525-550 AD. Dressed and adorned with numerous jewels, the young female was laid in a coffin upon which were placed vessels in glass, copper alloy goblet and ceramic. Each male had been buried in an excavated funerary chamber, built within an oak frame. They were laid in their coffins along with their personal clothing, including a ceremonial sword with two rings added to the pommel.
