Based on the average dwell time method, an exponential stability criterion for switched stochastic delay systems is proposed. Then, H ∞ performance analysis and observer-based robust H ∞ controller design for the underlying systems are developed. Finally, a numerical example is presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach.

Geoid effects in a convecting system with lateral viscosity variations

The geoid signal and the flow patterns of two-dimensional steady state convection models with exponential temperature- and depth dependent viscosity are compared with results for an equivalent stratified viscosity structure. In analogy to Richards and Hager [1989], the latter are computed by a “dynamic response” approach. The flow fields obtained with this approach are quite different from the full solution; the geoid signals are similar but the amplitudes differ significantly. The objective of this study was to assess the psychometric properties of the Latvian version of the Flourishing Scale (FS), created by Diener et al. (2010). FS is a brief self-report measure of the respondent’s well-being and success in areas of relationships, self-esteem, purpose, and optimism. The scale provides a single score across 8 items. The original FS was translated to Latvian and then back to English. The Satisfaction with Life Scale and Meaning in Life Questionnaire was applied for testing the convergent validity of the FS.
