Abstract The Early Cretaceous (138–130 Ma) carbonatites and associated alkaline rocks of Angola belong to the Parana-Angola-Etendeka Province and occur as ring complexes and other central-type intrusions along northeast trending tectonic lineaments, parallel to the trend of coeval Namibian alkaline complexes. Most of the Angolan carbonatite-alkaline bodies are located along the apical part of the Mocamedes Arch, a structure representing the African counterpart of the Ponta Grossa Arch in southern Brazil, where several alkaline-carbonatite complexes were also emplaced in the Early Cretaceous. Abstract This work was carried out to pursue a double objective: to improve the hygienic safety of cheeses produced from raw ewes' milk; and to produce a new typology of raw ewes' milk through the application of “Grana” technology for which the name “Gran Ovino” was chosen. With this in mind, raw milk from an individual farm was transformed under controlled conditions at a dairy pilot plant. OX40 stimulation is known to enhance activation of effector T cells and to inhibit induction and suppressive function of Treg. Here we uncovered a novel role of OX40 in sustaining Treg competitive fitness in vivo, during repopulation of lymphopenic hosts and reconstitution of BM chimeras. Defective expansion of OX40-null Treg diminished their ability to suppress inflammation in a model of lymphopenia-driven colitis. OX40-mediated promotion of Treg fitness spanned beyond lymphopenic environments, as endogenous Treg in OX40-null mice showed decreased accumulation during thymic development, enhanced susceptibility to antibody-mediated depletion and defective turnover following thymectomy. A novel pyruvate kinase (PK-S) from boar spermatozoa is localized at the fibrous sheath and the acrosome

Boar spermatozoa contain a novel pyruvate kinase (PK-S) that is tightly bound at the acrosome of the sperm head and at the fibrous sheath in the principal piece of the flagellum, while the midpiece contains a soluble pyruvate kinase (PK). PK-S could not be solubilized by detergents, but by trypsin with no loss of activity. Purified PK-S as well as PK-S still bound to cell structures and soluble sperm PK have all kinetics similar to those of rabbit muscle PK-M1. Age-related changes in the regulation of transcription factor NF-kappa B in rat brain.

Aging process involves an increase in stress at cellular level. We studied whether aging affects the regulation of stress responsive transcription factor NF-kappa B in brain samples of Wistar rats. Hippocampus, cerebellum, and temporal and frontal lobes of cortex were studied. We observed a significant up-regulation in the constitutive, nucleus-located NF-kappa B binding activity in 30-month-old Wistar rats compared to young and 18-month-old rats. The increase was most prominent in cerebellum and in frontal cortex, but age-related changes did not occur in hippocampus. Helminth Infection of the Loggerhead Sea Turtle Caretta caretta along the Coasts of Sicily and the North West Adriatic Sea

We provide new data on the presence of helminth parasites in 64 individual loggerhead sea turtles Caretta caretta stranded along the coasts of Sicily and the northwest Adriatic Sea between June 2014 and August 2016. The necropsy examination revealed 31 individuals (48.4%) positive for endoparasites, showing a greater prevalence of trematodes than nematodes. In particular, seven species and a single genus of Trematoda (Hapalotrema) and a single species and genus of Nematoda (Kathlania) were identified. Among the Digenea flukes the species with the highest prevalence of infection were Rhytidodes gelatinosus (34.6%) and Hapalotrema sp. (33.3%), while among the Nematoda they were Kathlania sp. …

Maģistra darbs ir uzrakstīts latviešu valodā uz 54 lapaspusēm. Satur 34 attēlus, 4 pielikumus un 40 atsauces uz literatūras avotiem. Darba mērķis bija izvērtēt digitalizētās asociētās forijas novērtēšanas metodes pielietojamību. Pētījumā piedalījās 40 dalībnieki vecumā 19-28 gadi. Darbā tika analizēti un salīdzināti asociētās forijas mērījumi, iegūtie ar dažādiem testiem – digitalizētiem un drukātiem. Pētījumā tika noteikts, ka Hoya EyeGenius Mallett testa rezultāti ir salīdzināmi ar STOP testa rezultātiem, bet ir atšķirīgi no Hoya EyeGenius aprēķina metodes testa un Wesson kartes.

Przedmiotem analiz artykułu jest pojęcie myślenia dialogicznego. Jest ono różne od pojęcia dialogu – literackiej figury, która służy do przekazywania poglądów filozoficznych. Myślenie dialogiczne, jako merytorycznie nowy sposób uprawiania filozofii, pojawia się dopiero w początkach XX wieku. Zrodziło się ono jako sprzeciw wobec redukcyjnych metod nauk przyrodniczych i przeniesienia ich w obszar myśli humanistycznej i antropologicznej. W ten sposób powstał nowy nurt filozoficzny – filozofia dialogu. Rozwijał się w duchu uwag krytycznych kierowanych pod adresem dotychczasowej tradycji filozofii zachodniej.
