Abstract Recent developments in Spanish higher education have been very positive. Universities have become autonomous and are more in tune to regional needs, their internal structure has become flexible, the whole system has become open and accessible, funds have been poured into the system as never before and market forces have started to play a relevant role. Nevertheless, some perverse effects have begun to emerge. We will focus on some of these negative aspects that deserve deeper consideration: the inadequate adaptation to a mass higher education system, and the negative consequences of the collegial model for governing universities and of regionalization.

Background To assess the correlation between different dermatoglyphic patterns with the terminal planes in deciduous dentition. Material and methods 300 children who are 3-6 years old with complete primary dentition were recruited and the pattern of molar terminal plane was recorded in the proforma. Undifferentiated carcinoma of the pancreas with osteoclast-like giant cells (UCOGC) is currently considered a morphologically and clinically distinct variant of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). In this study, we report clinical and pathological features of a series of 22 UCOGCs, including the whole exome sequencing of eight UCOGCs. We observed that 60% of the UCOGCs contained a well-defined epithelial component and that patients with pure UCOGC had a significantly better prognosis than did those with an UCOGC with an associated epithelial neoplasm. Aim:To assess whether performing routinely 2-deoxy-2-[18F]fluoro-D-glucose PET/CT (18FDG PET/CT) scanfrom the upper thigh to the vertex of skull is clinically relevant. Materials and Methods: 3502 (1634 female; mean-age 60+16) consecutive patients undergoing 18 FDG PET/CT were retrospectively analyzed. Patients were divided in 10 groups according to primar y malignancy. Chi-square analysis was used to assess differences among proportions. A p value < 0.05 was considered significant. Results: 18 FDG PET/CT was positive in head district in 130/3502 (3,7%) patients. In all patients lesions were unknown before PET/CT examination. We describe a whole-genome siRNA-based reverse genetics screen for defects in biogenesis and/or maintenance of the primary cilium, obtaining a global resource.
