Abstract Solid state recycling refers to a group of processes allowing direct recycling of metals scraps into semi-finished product. Their main advantage lies in avoiding the molten state of the material which badly affects the environmental performance of the conventional (remelting based) recycling routes. It is expected that such process category would lower the environmental performance of metals recycling. An increased level of complex offshore load handling operations is expected due to an increased amount of floating wind turbines, remote fish farms, and autonomous shipping, and in general more advanced operations to be carried out at sea. A common problem for these applications is that both equipment and personnel have to be transported between two floating vessels at sea. Design of a robust controller for DC/DC converter–electrolyzer systems supplied by μWECSs subject to highly fluctuating wind speed

Abstract A buck-based, isolated, high-voltage-ratio DC/DC converter that allows supplying a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer from a micro-wind energy conversion system ( μ WECS) has been recently presented. It exhibits low ripple at the switching frequency on the output voltage and current and represents an attractive solution for low-cost hydrogen production. In this paper, a more accurate mathematical model of such a converter is derived and discussed. Wind component estimation for UAS flying in turbulent air

One of the most important problem of autonomous flight for UAS is the wind identification, especially for small scale vehicles. This research focusses on an identification methodology based on the Extended Kalman Filter (EKF). In particular authors focus their attention on.the filter tuning problem. The proposed procedure requires low computational power, so it is very useful for UAS. A model for torque losses in variable displacement axial piston motors

This paper includes a comparison of earlier presented models for torque losses in hydraulic motors and several proposed models that all rely on data typically available for a system engineer. The new models and the old ones are compared. The new models are all based on a model developed by Jeong 2007 with an expansion that include variable displacement. All of the new models yield very good accuracy down to approximately 50% of maximum displacement and down to approximately 15% of maximum speed.
