The fire blight pathogenErwinia amylovoracan be considered a psychrotrophic bacterial species since it can grow at temperatures ranging from 4 °C to 37 °C, with an optimum of 28 °C. In many plant pathogens the expression of virulence determinants is restricted to a certain range of temperatures. In the case ofE. amylovora,temperatures above 18 °C are required for blossom blight epidemics under field conditions. T-box genes are essential for limb development in vertebrates and arthropods. The Drosophila genome encodes eight T-box genes, six of which are expressed in limb ontogenesis. The Tbx20-related gene pair midline and H15 is essential for dorso-ventral patterning of the Drosophila legs. Fermentation performance at low temperature is a common approach to obtain wines with better aroma, and is critical in industrial applications. Natural hybrids S. cerevisiae × S. kudriavzevii, isolated from fermentations in cold-climate European countries, have provided an understanding of the mechanisms of adaptation to grow at low temperature. In this work, we studied the performance of 23 S. cerevisiae × S. kudriavzevii hybrids at low temperature (8, 12 and 24 °C) to characterize their phenotypes. Exploring the biodiversity of two groups of Oenococcus oeni isolated from grape musts and wines: Are they equally diverse?

One hundred and four Oenococcus oeni isolates were characterised by the carbohydrate fermentation (CH) profile and DNA fingerprinting. Forty-four isolates came from grape must, and 60 from wines sampled at the end of alcoholic fermentation or during malolactic fermentation. The grape must isolates fermented more CH than the wine isolates. In genotypical terms, no clear boundary between grape must and wine isolates was found. Isolation, identification and oenological characterization of non-Saccharomyces yeasts in a Mediterranean island

UNLABELLED We isolated, identified and characterized yeast strains from grapes, and their fermented musts, sampled in the small island of Linosa, where there are no wineries and therefore the possibility of territory contamination by industrial strains is minimal. AIM Liver transplantation is the only curative strategy for final stage liver diseases. Despite the great advances achieved during the last 20 years, the recipient immune response after transplantation is not entirely controlled.
