The Tongue, Mandible, Hyoid System.

2017

The craniocervical-mandibular system works in harmony and allows different functional tasks as the postural control of the cervical region. This system is formed by the temporomandibular joint, the masticatory muscles and ligaments connecting the temporomandibular joint and the cervical region. It has been seen to affect human posture, and many disorders of the temporomandibular joints may affect this functional arrangement. Notwithstanding this system considered as a functional arrangement, may offer various clinical explanations, it does not hold anatomical connections with the posterior region of the cranium, thus it should not be refered to as a craniocervical arrangement. For this reas…

Kinematics of Cervical Spine during Rowing Ergometer at Different Stroke Rates in Young Rowers: A Pilot Study

2022

Background: Research on biomechanics in rowing has mostly focused on the lumbar spine. However, injuries can also affect other body segments. Thus, the aim of this pilot study was to explore any potential variations in the kinematics of the cervical spine during two different stroke rates on the rowing ergometer in young rowers. Methods: Twelve young rowers of regional or national level were recruited for the study. The experimental protocol consisted of two separate test sessions (i.e., a sequence of 10 consecutive strokes for each test session) at different stroke rates (i.e., 20 and 30 strokes/min) on an indoor rowing ergometer. Kinematics of the cervical spine was assessed using an iner…

Influence of sutures configuration on the strength of tendon-patch joints for rotator cuff tears treatment

2019

Abstract Purpose Massive rotator cuff tears are common in the aging population. The incidence of failed rotator cuff repairs is still quite high, especially in the treatment of full-thickness tears or revision repairs. In this context, natural and synthetic meshes can be used as augmentation scaffolds or as devices to close the gap between a retracted tendon and the bone. The purpose of this work is to evaluate the ultimate tensile strength of different tendon-patch joints in order to consider their use in the treatment of massive cuff tears. Materials and methods Porcine tendons and a synthetic low-density polypropylene mesh have been used. A preliminary study on the tensile strength of te…

2020

The occupation of dental assistants (DAs) involves many health risks of the musculoskeletal system due to static and prolonged work, which can lead to musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). The aim of the study was to investigate the prevalence of MSDs in DAs in Germany. Methods: For this purpose, an online questionnaire analyzed 406 (401 female participants and 5 male participants, 401w/5m) DAs. It was based on the Nordic Questionnaire (lifetime, 12-month, and seven-day MSDs’ prevalence separated into neck, shoulder, elbow, wrist, upper back, lower back, hip, knee, and ankle), and occupational and sociodemographic questions as well as questions about specific medical conditions. Results: 98.5% …

Molecular and Macromolecular Changes in Bottle-Aged White Wines Reflect Oxidative Evolution–Impact of Must Clarification and Bottle Closure

2018

This article is part of the Research Topic "The Chemistry of Wine Ageing" Adresse de correspondance: Institut Universitaire de la Vigne et du Vin, Dijon, France PMCID: PMC5897750; International audience; Chardonnay wines from Burgundy, obtained from musts with three levels of clarification (Low, Medium and High) during two consecutive vintages (2009 and 2010) and for two kinds of closures (screw caps and synthetic coextruded closures) were analyzed chemically and sensorially. Three bottles per turbidity level were opened in 2015 in order to assess the intensity of the reductive and/or oxidative aromas (REDOX sensory scores) by a trained sensory panel. The chemical analyses consisted in poly…

Vapautetut sankarit : myyttirevisiot Jeanette Wintersonin romaaneissa Sexing the Cherry ja Weight

2011

Tutkielman aiheena on myyttirevisiot Jeanette Wintersonin romaaneissa Sexing the Cherry (1989) ja Weight (2005). Käsitteellä ”myyttirevisio” tarkoitetaan tutkielmassa postmoderneja, uudelleenkirjoitettuja versioita antiikin Kreikan myyteistä. Tarkasteltavat romaanit ovat rajautuneet Wintersonin romaanituotannosta tutkielman aineistoksi, sillä kyseisissä romaaneissa Winterson uudelleenkirjoittaa klassisia myyttejä siten, että luoduissa myyttirevisioissa esitetään suhteellisen yksityiskohtainen kerronnallinen paralleeli intertekstinä toimivalle myytille sekä ulotetaan kriittinen uudelleen tarkastelu myös myyttien taustalla toimiviin kulttuurisiin, ideologisiin ja poliittisiin konteksteihin. Nano-graphite cold cathodes for electric solar wind sail

2015

The nanographite (NG) films consisting of tiny graphite crystallites (nanowalls) are produced by carbon condensation from methane–hydrogen gas mixture activated by a direct current discharge. High aspect ratio and structural features of the NG crystallites provides efficient field electron emission (FE). Applicability and performance of the NG films in an electron gun (E-gun) of a solar wind thruster system with an electric sail (E-sail) is tested. The long-term tests are demonstrated suitability of E-gun assembly with the NG cathodes for the real space missions. The results of the tests are analyzed and physical mechanisms of the cathode aging and practical methods for improvement performa…

Iäisyydestä aikaan, ajasta iäisyyteen : evoluutio ja siihen liittyvät temporaaliset narratiivit Sun Yatsenin poliittisessa argumentaatiossa

2008

Tutkimuksen tarkoitus on analysoida Kiinan ensimmäisenä presidenttinä toimineen Sun Yatsenin ajan retoriikkaa. Keskityn erityisesti Sunin tapaan käyttää evoluutio-käsitettä argumentaationsa apuna ja tähän evoluutio-käsitteeseen liittyviin ajallisiin narratiiveihin. Tutkimuksen ensisijaisena aineistona on Sunin tunnetuin teos Kansan kolme periaatetta. Olen lisäksi analysoinut myös muita kysymyksenasettelun kannalta relevantteja Sunin kirjoittamia tekstejä. Teoreettisena näkökulmana minulla on Reinhart Koselleckin temporalisaatio-teesi, jota sovellan työssäni kiinalaiseen kontekstiin. Tämä asetelma sijoittaa Sunin argumentaation osaksi laajempaa kontekstia. Taustaoletuksenani on, että Kiinass…

Le selfie et ses différentes formes : l’amour de soi et le corps en morceaux

2018

Taking care of one’s body by exercising or by use of a body care is nothing new, but an increasingly important place is given to it nowadays, as it is shown by the enormous growth of sport centres and numerous advertisements for cosmetic products. Another form of this interest in oneself has recently developed with the increase in selfies (egoportraits in Quebec French) all over the world or almost. Nonetheless, the selfies have rapidly become varied and these innovations and their neological denominations, essentially Anglo-American ones, are exactly what we propose to study in comparison with the French, the Polish and the Czech. The common press articles allowed us to discover these new …
