Helping lecturers address and formulate teaching challenges: an exploratory study

International audience; In this paper we present an exploratory study on the kind of questions or difficulties lecturers point out at the beginning of an educational course – to be addressed in it. These questions happen to be very general and are poorly connected to the knowledge to be taught. We suggest a twofold interpretation of this phenomenon. On the one hand, and in the line of the didactic transposition theory, teachers do not allow themselves to raise questions about the knowledge that is supposed to be their main field of expertise. Long-term dynamics of pelagic fish density and vendace (Coregonus albula (L.)) stocks in four zones of a lake differing in trawling intensity

– An 11-year time series of hydroacoustic fish density estimates and fisheries statistics of vendace (Coregonus albula (L.)) from four zones of a lake differing in trawling intensity was analyzed in order to test the hypothesis that intensive trawling has detrimental effects on pelagic fish stocks, especially vendace recruitment. The standardized fish density estimate in trawled zones showed no decrease in comparison to the non-trawled zone. No signs of recruitment failure associable with trawling intensity were found. The CINHEKS study was a six country international comparative study focused on the way in which contemporary higher education institutions and networked within and between networked knowledge societies. Selecting appropriate publication outlets is crucial to any researcher. Journal rankings can be used to guide the selection, but their usefulness may be limited for particular audiences. In this paper, it is argued that especially young researchers and researchers in interdisciplinary fields can benefit from targeting research efforts to a specific community. The endogenous ligands of cannabinoid receptors, also known as endocannabinoids, have been implicated in many physiological and pathological processes of the central nervous system. Here we show that the levels of the two major endocannabinoids, anandamide and 2-arachidonoyl-glycerol (2-AG), in four areas of the rat brain, change dramatically between the light and dark phases of the day. While anandamide levels in the nucleus accumbens, pre-frontal cortex, striatum and hippocampus were significantly higher in the dark phase, the opposite was observed with 2-AG, whose levels were significantly higher during the light phase in all four regions. Several new 3-(isoxazol-3-yl)-quinazolin-4(3H)-one derivatives were synthesized and tested for their analgesic and antiinflammatory activities, as well as for their acute toxicity and ulcerogenic effect. A few compounds were as active as phenylbutazone in the writhing and acetic acid peritonitis tests. They had a very low ulcerogenic effect.
Adequate Urinary Iodine Concentration among Infants in the Inland Area of Norway

Considering the importance of iodine to support optimal growth and neurological development of the brain and central nervous system, this study aimed to assess and evaluate iodine status in Norwegian infants. We collected data on dietary intake of iodine, iodine knowledge in mothers, and assessed iodine concentration in mother’s breast milk and in infant’s urine in a cross-sectional study at two public healthcare clinics in the inland area of Norway. In the 130 mother–infant pairs, the estimated infant 24-h median iodine intake was 50 (IQR 31, 78) µg/day.
