2020

Methods: A total of 87 post‐menopausal volunteer women, aged 60‐68 years, with mild knee OA were recruited in a randomized, controlled, 4‐month aquatic training trial (RCT) and randomly assigned to an intervention (n = 43) and a control (n = 44) group. Exercise as stimulus for cartilage health in knee osteoarthritis
2018
Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a leading cause of musculoskeletal pain and disability and has significant socio-economical costs globally. There is no known cure for OA. Therapeutic exercise has been shown to evoke acute positive posttreatment effects on pain and function. Even though cartilage degeneration is crucial in OA progression, there is sparse knowledge about exercise effects on osteoarthritic cartilage. The purpose of this study was to investigate the efficacy of aquatic resistance training on the estimated biochemical composition of tibiofemoral cartilage and the association between leisure time physical activity (LTPA) and tibiofemoral cartilage in postmenopausal women with mild kn…

The crime of stalking in spain
2020
The Organic Law 1/2015, of March 30, introduced the crime of harassment or stalking in article 172 ter CP, thinking mainly of women who suffer acts of harassment by their former partners. The legislator followed the model of the crime of persecution (Nachstellung) of § 238 StGB, although this precept has been recently reformed, ceasing to be a crime of result to become a crime of suitability. However, the Spanish regulation has dispensed with the analog clause of the German provision, avoiding the infringement of the principle of legal security. On the other hand, our judicial bodies have interpreted this illicit act in an excessively flexible way, punishing behaviors that generate mere anx…
2018
In contemporary societies we are witnessing an expansion of the messages of human capital. These messages have as their central dimension idea of the self-entrepreneur, which implies a deepening in the logic of activation, while blurring the wage relations. In this scenario, young people with university degrees are becoming a favourite target in the offensive of human capital. The penetration of these human capital messages can be seen in the discourses of young university students who have been forced to leave the country during the crisis. In the present text we approach the discourses of young women who came out as au pairs. The characteristics of this figure place it in a space halfway …
”Ei elämääni lomia mahtunut.” – Naisten muistelukerrontaa palkkatyöstä talvi- ja jatkosotien ja jälleenrakennuksen aikana
2014
My doctoral dissertation examines women’s memory narratives of paid labour during the Winter War (1939–1940) and the Continuation War (1941–1945, including the Lapland War) and in the years of rebuilding in Finland until early 1950s. As an ethnologist, I am interested in the personal level of everyday life and experiences of work. My main interest lies in the meanings women give to paid labour. The focus is on memory narratives, and I am reaching and I aim to bring to light the meanings given to work: what did paid labour mean for women during the war and the time of rebuilding and how do they tell about it decades afterwards? I analyse, for example, the effect of the war on women’s work ex…
Aux antipodes du modèle normatif de la féminité : la femme criminelle dans "Thérèse Raquin" d’Émile Zola et "Thérèse Desqueyroux" de François Mauriac
2020
A woman who killed or intended to kill her husband is the main character in two novels belonging to the Realist movement. Both the protagonists have the same given name: Therese. Zola’s Therese Raquin is a “real” killer, incapable of winning the “physiological” influence of her nervous temperament, her cowardice and hypocrisy, while Mauriac’s Therese Desqueyroux, whose criminal intentions failed, is a mysterious person whose main problem is her incompatibility with her milieu. Both novels show a criminal woman as the opposite of the accepted model of womanliness.
Le périple erratique de la mendiante durassienne
2022
Marguerite Duras focuses on a rejected individual on the margins of society. Her literary characters oppose being perceived as devoid of autonomy, contesting the fixed model of a submissive and passive woman. On the contrary, they reject the social order and the traditional system of values, claiming the right to freedom and thus demonstrating transgressive female behaviour. Duras’ heroine, a mysterious, crazy person who is looking for love and is aware of her otherness and alienation, appears as a kind of femme fatale or a witch. This image of a “different” woman – a disturbing, unhappy, lost, borderline person experiencing a specific crisis – is best illustrated by a beggar. She identifie…
