This paper addresses the phenomenon of male violence against women within Surrealism. Particularly, this essay focuses on the visu…

Supplementation with d-chiro-inositol in women
2023
The world of natural compounds has been investigated with the aim of discovering possible medical applications ever since the origin of medicine. Recently, the field of gynecology has developed a growing interest regarding inositols. Inositols are cyclic polyols with a key role in many metabolic pathways. Their stability throughout the evolution of life can mark these molecules as prebiotic, due to their biochemical importance. These molecules can be classified into nine stereoisomeric compounds; among them, myo-inositol (MI) is the most important and frequent form found in nature. Inositols were first discovered in 1850 by Johanes Joseph Scherer and extracted from muscle cells, the name of…
Prevalence of silent fecal and urinary incontinence in women from the town of Teruel
2005
OBJECTIVES To study the prevalence of fecal (FI) and urinary incontinence (UI) in women from Teruel (Spain), as well as the clinical conditions associated with these disorders. METHODS We studied prospectively women with an age range of 20-64 years who were randomly selected from the population seen in a primary care center because of medical disorders not related to incontinence. Patients with functional or cognitive impairment were excluded. Medical and obstetric antecedents, as well as the type and frequency of incontinence symptoms were collected in a questionnaire. RESULTS Out of 115 women, 103 completed the study (mean age: 41+/-12 years range 20-64). UI was present in 34.9% (stress 3…
Assessment of the BMI, WHR and W/Ht in pre- and postmenopausal women
2007
The main goal of this study was to determine whether and how values of the BMI, WHR and W/Ht indicators change in pre- and postmenopausal women. The tested group consisted of 10,216 women aged 25-95 years. Data were collected during the national campaign "Fighting Obesity", organized by Hand-Prod Company between 2000-2002 across Poland, when adult women voluntarily filled in a questionnaire and participated in anthropometric measurements. The BMI, WHR and W/Ht values were calculated based on these measurements. The values of the BMI, WHR and W/Ht change with age. However, in each age group postmenopausal women have higher BMI, WHR and W/Ht than premenopausal women. Thus, the results obtaine…
Sonographic size of uterus and ovaries in pre- and postmenopausal women
1996
Uterine and ovarian size were measured in 765 pre- and postmenopausal women by transvaginal ultrasound. Of these, 263 (premenopausal, n = 155; postmenopausal, n = 108) were found to have neither uterine nor ovarian pathological findings. According to parity, premenopausal women were separated into three groups: nullipara, primipara and multipara. Postmenopausal women were separated into two groups according to years since menopause: 5 years since menopause. In the premenopausal group, a parity-related enlargement in uterine size was observed between nulliparous and parous women. After the menopause, a significant reduction in uterine size and in the corpus-cervix ratio was observed. The red…
Detection of Human Papillomavirus DNA in cervical samples: analysis of the new PGMY-PCR compared to Hybrid Capture II, MY-PCR and a Two-step nested P…
2004
The PGMY-PCR for human papillomavirus (HPV) was evaluated, in parallel with nested PCR (nPCR), in samples with noted Hybrid Capture II (HCII) and MY-PCR results. PGMY-PCR detected HPV DNA in 2.5% of HCII-negative-MY-PCR-negative samples and in 71.7% of HCII-positive-MY-PCR-negative samples; also, it detected the MY-PCR-negative-nPCR-negative types HPV-42, HPV-44, HPV-51, HPV-87, and HPV-89.
Lower secondary school pupils’ written descriptions of their experiences with bullying and the tendency to seek help
2021
The purpose of this study was to examine lower secondary school students’ (n = 223) descriptions of bullying and their experiences with the phenomenon. Students at three schools in Norway completed a survey containing open-ended questions. We employed a mixed-methods analytical approach in which responses were coded thematically and then quantified. Findings indicate that students viewed bullying in a manner consistent with prevalent definitions in the literature. However, they were often unsure whether social conflicts they had experienced would be considered bullying. School was clearly featured as the primary arena for bullying, although bullying in free-time activities and on social med…
