Consensus On Women'S Health Aspects Of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (Pcos)

2012

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is the most common endocrine disorder in females with a high prevalence. The etiology of this heterogeneous condition remains obscure and its phenotype expression varies. Two, widely cited, previous ESHRE/ASRM-sponsored PCOS consensus workshops focused on diagnosis (published in 2004) and infertility management (published in 2008). The present third PCOS consensus paper summarizes current knowledge and identifies knowledge gaps regarding various women's health aspects of PCOS. Relevant topics addressed-all dealt with in a systematic fashion-include adolescence, hirsutism and acne, contraception, menstrual cycle abnormalities, quality of life, ethnicity, preg…

Two cases of intra-pericardic dissection in Turner's syndrome women

2011

Turner's syndrome is a genetic partial or complete monosomy of sexual chromosome X; therefore women affected by Turner's syndrome have 45 (XO) caryotype. In 15% of the cases Trner's syndrome is associated with cardiac congenital malformations, the most frequent anomalies are the aortic coartaction and the defect of interventricular septum. The authors introduce two cases of deceased women affected by Turner's syndrome caused by intrapericardic dissection of the ascending aorta.

Assessing satisfaction of tourists visiting Italian museums: eviden from the eWOM

2022

Museum visitors’ satisfaction is a priority asset for those museums aiming at being competitive in the cultural tourism sector. In this study, evaluations by visitor-tourists, left in their reviews on museums on the TripAdvisor platform, are analysed. Through web scraping, we collected comments for twelve Italian museums left during the year 2019. The content analysis focussed on components of the tourists’ satisfaction among Italian and foreign museum visitors, with emotional response, management, and exhibitions emerging as key concepts in museum’s evaluation. Noticeably, some elements emerged as divisive: i.e., they appeared both among less and most satisfied tourist-visitors

The Transformation of Female Roles in Cosa Nostra: A Diachronic and Comparative Analysis

2012

The chapter examines the transformation of the roles of women in Italian organized crime groups. Starting from a comparative analysis of the way in which – over time – the different manifestations of female power and male domination in certain organized crime groups (Cosa Nostra and others) have changed, we seek to understand what female power is in these contexts and what are the circumstances which make it legitimate and visible, what are the different modalities in which it expresses itself over time, in different locations and criminal contexts. The studies of women’s roles in mafias have shown how, over time, these have changed, particularly in terms of their ‘visibility’. Over the las…

Meticciamento regressivo: donne migranti e donne palermitane

2020

2020

Today, the identification of migrants with asylum seekers and the overestimation of inflows – also referred to as the “refugee crisis” – has meant that Italy, as a politically strategic borderland of Europe, coincides with a battleground between sovereign drives and solidarity tensions. If refugees are the most visible object of political contention, governance operated by Ngo’s and, more generally, by civil society, sees women in the front row in a battle aimed at re-humanizing politics. The clash, which lasted for weeks between Captain Rackete of Sea Watch 3 and Minister Salvini, did not only represent a confrontation between reception policies and rejection policies, between the dehumani…
