Newly Digitized Database Reveals the Lives and Families of Forced Migrants from Finnish Karelia

Studies on displaced persons often suffer from a lack of data on the long-term effects of forced migration. A register created during 1960s and published as a book series ‘Siirtokarjalaisten tie’ in 1970 documented the lives of individuals who fled the southern Karelian district of Finland after its first and second occupation by the Soviet Union in 1940 and 1944. To realize the potential value of these data for scientific research, we have recently scanned the register using optical character recognition (OCR) software, and developed proprietary computer code to extract these data. In recent years online shopping has become a popular and convenient instrument for companies to buy and sell products. However, the design of these web-shops does not offer the rich multisensory experiences than physical retailing offers. In the paper we argue that audio-visual contents could provide dynamic multisensory information to offer more engaging experiences to the consumer, but to achieve this goal, audio-visual contents need to be adjusted to the cultural characteristics of the users. International audience; Congenital contractural arachnodactyly (CCA) is an extremely rare disease, due to mutations in the FBN2 gene encoding fibrillin-2. Another member of the fibrillin family, the FBN1 gene, is involved in a broad phenotypic continuum of connective-tissue disorders including Marfan syndrome. Identifying not only what is in common but also what differentiates these two proteins should enable us to better comprehend their respective functions and better understand the multitude of diseases in which these two genes are involved. Tämä tutkielma käsittelee suomalaista WWW-sovelluskehystä Vaadinta. Se on palvelinpohjainen Java-kehys rikkaiden WWW-sovellusten kehittämiseen. Tutkielmassa esitellään myös WWW-kehyksiä yleisesti sekä WWW-kehysten yleensä käyttämä MVC-arkkitehtuuri. Lisäksi esitellään myös Vaatimen käyttämät tekniikat: AJAX, UIDL, JSON ja DOM sekä kuinka Vaadin niitä käyttää. Vaatimesta käydään läpi käyttöliittymäkomponentit, tapahtumien käsittely, tietomalli ja ulkoasun muokkaus. Lopuksi esitellään Vaatimen käyttöä esimerkkisovelluksen avulla.

BACKGROUND: We compared, through the European Liver Transplant Registry, long-term liver transplantation outcomes with prolonged-release tacrolimus (PR-T) versus immediate-release tacrolimus (IR-T)-based immunosuppression. This retrospective analysis comprises up to 8-year data collected between 2008 and 2016, in an extension of our previously published study. METHODS: Patients with <1 month follow-up were excluded; patients were propensity score matched for baseline characteristics.
