<p>Box girder, due to its high torsional stiffness, is very appropriate for railway and highway long- medium span bridges. This type of cross section, subjected to transversely non-uniform loads, present warping and distortion phenomena. Abstract In the framework of displacement-based equivalent single layer (ESL) plate theories for laminates, this paper presents a generic and automatic method to extend a basis higher-order shear deformation theory (polynomial, trigonometric, hyperbolic…) to a multilayer C z 0 higher-order shear deformation theory. In this dissertation a new approach for non-rigid medical im- age registration is presented. It relies onto a probabilistic framework based on the novel concept of Fuzzy Kernel Regression. The theoric framework, after a formal introduction is applied to develop several complete registration systems, two of them are interactive and one is fully automatic. Cruise passengers' trajectories at destination. A Dynamic Time Warping approach.

The present work aims at proposing an analysis of cruise passengers trajectories at the destination through Dynamic Time Warping algorithm. Data collected through GPS devices on cruise passengers’ behavior in the port of Palermo are analyzed in order to show similarities and differences among their spatial trajectories at the destination. A cluster analysis is performed in order to identify cruise passengers’ segments based on trajectories’ similarity. Results are of interest from both a methodological perspective related with the analysis of GPS data, and for the management and planning of cruise tourism destinations.

Symmetry is one of the most prominent spatial relations perceived by humans, and has a relevant role in attentive mechanisms regarding both visual and auditory systems. The aim of this paper is to establish symmetry, among the likes of motion, depth or range, as a dynamic feature in artificial vision. This is achieved in the first instance by assessing symmetry estimation by means of algorithms, putting emphasis on erosion and multi- resolution approaches, and confronting two ensuing problems: the isolation of objects from the context, and the pertinence (or lack thereof) of some salient points, such as the centre of mass. The warping torsion as a sequence of infinite bending problems

[EN] In the present article, a methodology for teaching modeling problem of mixed torsion for thin-walled open sections. The mathematical analogy of warped twist as a problem of Euler-Bernoulli beams is exploited. In fact, the paper proposes to represent the warped torsion differential equation as a perturbation of the pure torsion or also called the Saint-Venant theory. Thus, it is demonstrated that under certain conditions related to the value of the torsional slenderness the response of a beam is the addition of infinite pure warped problems, that is, infinite bending problems, according to the analogy. We call this the asymptotic torsion analogy.
Symplectic analysis of thin-walled curved box girders with torsion, distortion and shear lag warping effects

Shear lag effect and torsional and distortional warping can significantly affect the performance of thin-walled curved box girders used in modern bridge engineering. The structural behaviour of these bridges exhibits complexity due to coupled bending and torsion together with warping effects of non-uniform torsion, distortion and shear lag.
