Washington, une ville mondiale ?

2001

Washington DC is rarely mentioned in the scientific literature on world cities. However, its influence on the world economy is obvious (World Bank, IMF, Federal Reserve). As a new immigration center, Washington has grown rapidly into an international city. It is suggested that the concept of global city must be re-examined to propose a more flexible definition.

The Washington consensus and multinational banking in Latin America

2004

International audience; The dramatic increase in multinational banks in the late 1990s is a direct result of Washington Consensus-type policies that emphasize the removal of barriers to the free flow of financial capital. In Latin America, foreign banks now control almost half of the total banking activity. Inevitably, the direct implication of such circumstances is a fall in the profits of domestic banks. Either way, the multinationalization of…

Samsung and Volkswagen Crisis Communication in Facebook and Twitter : A Comparative Study

2017

Since September 2015 at least two major crises have emerged where major industrial companies producing consumer products have been involved. In September 2015 diesel cars manufactured by Volkswagen turned out to be equipped with cheating software that caused NO2 and other emission values to be reduced to acceptable levels while tested from the real, unacceptable values in normal use. In August 2016 reports began to appear that the battery of a new smart phone produced by Samsung, Galaxy Note7, could begin to burn, or even explode, while the device was on.
