Oxygen isotope and salinity measurements of coastal surface waters in the Gulf of Maine

These data include salinity and oxygen isotope measurements of water samples collected from coastal sites along the Gulf of Maine between 2003 and 2015. In particular, a suite of samples were collected along the coast of Maine, east of Penobscot Bay, on a monthly basis between April 2014 and March 2015. These data also include several freshwater samples collected from the Kennebec and Penobscot Rivers on a semi-monthly basis in 2014 and 2015. Determination of phenolic compounds in surface waters using high-performance liquid chromatography and molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction

An effective and reliable analytical method based on molecularly imprinted solid-phase extraction (MI-SPE) and high-performance liquid chromatography with photodiode array detector was developed to simultaneously determine four phenolic compounds: bisphenol A, 2-phenylphenol, tert-octylphenol and nonylphenol. A molecularly imprinted polymer that can selectively recognize bisphenol A and alkylphenols was developed. 1. Shallow arctic lakes and ponds have simple and short food webs, but large uncertainties remain about benthic-pelagic links in these systems. We tested whether organic matter of benthic origin supports zooplankton biomass in a pond in NE Greenland, using stable isotope analysis of carbon and nitrogen in the pond itself and in a 13C-enrichment enclosure experiment. In the latter, we manipulated the carbon isotope signature of benthic algae to enhance its isotopic discrimination from other potential food sources for zooplankton. 2. Levels and Potential Health Hazards of Chlorinated Pesticidesin Surface Water Samples of Charsadda Area of Pakistan Using SPME-GC-ECD Technique

In the present study, we determined the levels of chlorinated pesticide residues in surface water samples collected from the Charsadda district (KPK, Pakistan). SPME-GC-ECD with COMBI PAL CTC autosampler was used for extraction and analysis of 20 organochlorine pesticides in the collected water samples. For maximum efficiency of the SPME procedure, several parameters were studied, including the extraction and desorption time of the fiber, solution pH, agitation of samples, and stirring speed, etc. This method showed good liner response, with R2 values in the range of 0.9887 to 0.9999 for all pesticides.
