CSRZ-ASK and DPSK 40 Gb/s All-Raman WDM Transmission Based on UltraWave Fiber

2006

In this paper, we report a complete experimental and numerical analysis of 40 Gb/s WDM ultra long-haul (ULH) transmission using CSRZ-DPSK and CSRZ-ASK modulation formats on UltraWavetrade fiber spans. Experimental results compare well with full numerical simulations

Input pulse optimization in wavelength-division-multiplexed soliton transmissions

1997

Abstract Amplitudes of input pulses in different channels of wavelength-division-multiplexed soliton transmissions should be adjusted according to their wavelength shift. The optimal distribution of input amplitudes maintains the initial time width and minimizes the radiations. Numerical simulations indicate that using this simple method, WDM transmission capacities of 80 Gbit/s over transoceanic distances may be possible in dispersion-managed fiber links without introducing any in-line soliton controls.

Compton scattering off nucleons near threshold

2008

The energy dependence of the magnetic polarizability β has been evaluated by use of the delta resonance in the s- and u-channel of the Compton scattering amplitude. It was the idea to extract the influence of higher order terms (higher than ω2, ω = |k| being the photon energy) in the analysis of the polarizability. The static paramagnetic polarizability βPara(0) has been substituted by an energy dependent βδPara(k) and the result is compared with experimental data.

Thermal shielding of the SIMBOL-X mirror assembly

2007

The thermal modeling of the SIMBOL-X X-ray telescope has shown that thermal shielding of both the telescope ends is one possibility to ensure temperature uniformity of the mirror and to reduce the required heating power. The design of the thermal shielding must minimize the thermal exchange in a trade off between transparency of the shields to soft X-rays and mechanical robustness. We discuss two possible designs of the thermal shielding of the mirror module and show transmission curves at X-ray wavelengths.

Atomic transitions of Rb, D2 line in strong magnetic fields: Hyperfine Paschen–Back regime

2014

An efficient $\lambda/2$-method ($\lambda$ is the resonant wavelength of laser radiation) based on nanometric-thickness cell filled with rubidium is implemented to study the splitting of hyperfine transitions of $^{85}$Rb and $^{87}$Rb $D_2$ lines in an external magnetic field in the range of $B =3$~kG -- 7~kG. It is experimentally demonstrated that at $B > 3$~kG from 38 (22) Zeeman transitions allowed at low $B$-field in $^{85}$Rb ($^{87}$Rb) spectra in the case of $\sigma^+$ polarized laser radiation there remain only 12 (8) which is caused by decoupling of the total electronic momentum $\textbf{J}$ and the nuclear spin momentum $\textbf{I}$ (hyperfine Paschen-Back regime). Note that at $…

Hyperfine Paschen-Back regime in alkali metal atoms: consistency of two theoretical considerations and experiment

2013

Simple and efficient "\lambda-method" and "\lambda/2-method" (\lambda is the resonant wavelength of laser radiation) based on nanometric-thickness cell filled with rubidium are implemented to study the splitting of hyperfine transitions of 85Rb and 87Rb D_1 line in an external magnetic field in the range of B = 0.5 - 0.7 T. It is experimentally demonstrated from 20 (12) Zeeman transitions allowed at low B-field in 85Rb (87Rb) spectra in the case of \sigma+ polarized laser radiation, only 6 (4) remain at B > 0.5 T, caused by decoupling of the total electronic momentum J and the nuclear spin momentum I (hyperfine Paschen-Back regime). The expressions derived in the frame of completely uncoupl…

Kerr frequency comb generation in the normal dispersion regime of dispersion oscillating telecom fiber

2013

The generation of optical frequency combs has a variety of applications from optical metrology to spectroscopy and wavelength division multiplexing. Nonlinear methods to generate frequency combs are based on multiple four-wave mixing (FWM) in highly nonlinear waveguides [1]. The mechanism for the generation of a wideband comb from a CW pump is Kerr-induced phase-matching of the FWM interaction or modulation instability (MI), which requires operating in the anomalous dispersion regime. Such restriction can be circumvented with a cavity geometry, where MI [2] and comb generation [3] may also be observed in the normal dispersion region. Alternatively, one may obtain MI and unequally spaced Ker…

Tailored soliton statistics in supercontinuum generation

2009

Supercontinuum (SC) generation in highly nonlinear photonic crystal fibers (PCF) has stimulated tremendous interest in recent years [1]. Particular results that have received recent widespread attention concern the observation of “optical rogue waves,” statistically rare extreme red-shifted Raman solitons appearing on the long wavelength edge of the SC spectrum [2]. Further numerical analysis of these fluctuations have showed explicitly that the rogue soliton statistics exhibit strongly non-Gaussian extreme-value characteristics [3]. The previous studies of optical rogue wave statistics in SC generation have been carried out considering PCF with only one zero dispersion wavelength (ZDW). It…

2010

International audience; We report the experimental observation of an all-fibered polarization attractor at telecommunication wavelengths. We experimentally show that is possible to all-optical control the state of polarization of a 10 Gbit/s telecommunication signal through the injection of a counterpropagating pump wave.
