Cross-Social Network Collaborative Recommendation

Online social networks have become an essential part of our daily life, and an increasing number of users are using multiple online social networks simultaneously. We hypothesize that the integration of data from multiple social networks could boost the performance of recommender systems. In our study, we perform cross-social network collaborative recommendation and show that fusing multi-source data enables us to achieve higher recommendation performance as compared to various single-source baselines.

There are over 300 known school shooting cases in the world and over ten known cases where the perpetrator(s) have been prohibited to perform the attack at the last moment or earlier. Interesting from our point of view is that in many cases the perpetrators have expressed their views in social media or on their web page well in advance, and often also left suicide messages in blogs and other forums before their attack, along the planned date and place. Personal digital assistants (PDAs) are increasingly used by many professional and private users. They replace and combine common calendars, directories, to-do-lists and much more. Supplemented by useful additional software they can assist the clinician in his daily routine work. This concerns typical medical information as well as administrative work but gets more importance with regard to the planned introduction of diagnosis related groups in Germany however. Exact coding of medical performance is essential for this future invoice system. How PDAs can be used convenient in this respect will be shown with examples from our department.

General purpose search engines provide users with lists of retrieved documents in response to their queries. The common structure of list elements includes the title of a document, its URL, and small snippet from the text. Snippets are evidence of occurrences of query's keywords in the document. In this work we propose a smart, human-like PDA-based personal shopper assistant. The system is able to understand the user needs through a spoken natural language interaction and then stores the preferences of the potential customer. Subsequently the personal shopper suggests the most suitable items and shops that match the user profile.
